IPhone or HTC Desire hd

iphone = easy to use, looks cool, nice screen, great apps, very very very very expensive
HTC = does everything the iphone does but not as slick, apps are good and there are some superb free ones (free satnav). Much much cheaper to buy and own. BUT it will never be as smooth, and easy to use as the iphone
I've had and used both. Currently have the HTC desire because I couldn't stomach the extra cash when I know that it's only so expensive because Apple have used their corporate might to fix the price stupidly high.0 -
I have the HTC Desire and a iPhone 3g.
I know you cant compair the 3g to the 3gs or 4 but some are doing the same on here with HTC and older models.
The iPhone is easy to use but like a few i know that now have the desire, it does not take long to get use to how to use it but this would not be much different as most did not use touch screen phones before.
I dont have to Jailbreak ( this is if you want or feel you need too ) my deisre to get to use it like most other phone users can, I can send any file I want from my phone to someone else's no problem.
I use my iPhone as an ipod touch as they do have better games for now but the Desire does have some apps for free that would cost from Apple.
I would get it again if I had the choice plus I dont pay through the nose for having the Iphone.
Ps If you battery has problems I can just go buy a new one and put it in myself
I also use a car charger so have dont have a problem with the battery. simples0 -

FWIW - Apple don't decide the price of apps (or if they are free or not). The developers do. Apple takes a 30% cut of the profits though. So if you are getting apps for free on Android, that's the developer giving them away for free.0 -

It was not a dig at Apple, just stating a reason to get the Desire.
Ps I do look at the Apple store and there are paid for apps that are given for free if you look which I do.0 -
I just hate iTunes, so didn't go with the iPhone.
Really happy with the HTC Desire, but then everyone with an iPhone seems happy too.0 -
Here is a review of both phones side by side, read and make up your own mind, plus there are more.

Not sure that's a decent comparison, it seems to be comparing with the previous Desire not the HD version.0 -
I had the same dilemma, and let the price decide. I went for the free Desire and what a phone! really impressed I think the fast processor makes all the difference!
In terms of Battery life depends on what you use it for how much you do, to give you an idea I was in london with work yesterday, watched a film for an hour and a half on the way down, listened to tunes across town, made some calls in work, emails, tunes and a film on the way back. no problem.
Also you can sync your desire with itunes, using a program called itunes agent, which is great, I just bought a 32gb sd card so I could get tunes and films on it.
hope that is helpfulSTOP!......... Carry on!

I recently had the same choice i out of the iphone , htc etc
I went for the samsung galaxy s better screen than the htc lovely to use quicker than the htc and has better features than the iphone.
loving android atm blow my blackberry out the water0 -
I have spent the last few weeks using the Desire HD and previously had an iphone, also have an HD2 running on Android.
iphone is slick, easy to use with a great screen.
Desire HD not such a good screen, very tweakable, some great free apps
HD2 on WM6.5 looks, feels so far behind the times
HD2 with Android - was a great way to have a play with android free of charge to see if it was for me. (quick plug and thanks to XDA Developers website)
The main requirement I have is the need for removable memory cards. HD2 has this, Desire HD has this, iphone and windows phone 7 do not. Especially useful when travelling as I can have work stuff on one memery card and all of my personal stuff, films etc on another and swap them over as required.
I have all of my music organised on my computer already and the HD2 and Desire HD allow me to drag and drop music, films, documents etc onto my memory card. Computer sees them as a separate hard drive. This way of doing things works best for me.
Iphone everything has to be done via itunes, quick and easy to sync if you are happy for itunes to manage the process, and you use itunes on your computer to organise all music.
Windows phone 7 needs to be synced with Zune software. Only had a quick play with this and it seems to be the Microsoft equivalent to itunes. Apparently wp7 is due for a biggish update in the near future so maybe things might be changed/added.
We will all have different views as to why each phone is better/worse that the others, just as we do with cars, bikes and everything else.
I would suggest going to have a play with them all in various shops, see which one does what you need most effectively, which systems way of working you feel comfortable with. I know most o2 shops have wp7 and iphones that you can have a play with.
Sorry, what was going to be a short informative, helpful post has probably totally confused you now.0 -
Butting in a little, but work have offered me a phone, and that could include the iPhone 4G (16gb).
Limited by operator means the only HTC I can get is a little thing called the Aria, or I can get the Samsung Galaxy S.
My girlfriend has the iPhone, and whilst I quite like using it, I'm intrigued by Android, and also put off by the sheer size of the damn thing, and it's reported susceptibility to moisture.
For those of you with iPhones - how does it fare in your back pockets whilst riding? I can't get over the size of them - I already have a Nokia E72, and thought that was a bit big.
I've also been looking at the HTC Legend, as it's a fair bit smaller, but sadly that's not offered on the provider my company's with. Always the way, eh?

Problem is they are so big. Presume you'll take it cycling. I've got an HTC Wildfire. Does what I need. I considered the bigger phones but would have bought a cheaper PAYG to take cycling. Kind of defeated the object.0

Yeah - it's the size and "sweat-proof" predominantly.
Do you guys just pop it in a zip-lock bag when riding with one?Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0 -
My girlfriend has just got a Samsung Galaxy S (well it was my upgrade actually, but I gave it to her so she could get rid of her crappy Nokia N97) and I must say that its pretty amazing. I've got an HTC Magic (one of the first Android phones) and there really is no comparison. The Magic is good (especially since I rooted it and installed Android 2.2), but the Galaxy is so much quicker and slicker and the screen is very, very impressive.
I take my phone cycling in a zip-lock bag, but I definitely wouldn't take something like the Galaxy S or HTC Desire HD - too big. I'd get a cheapo PAYG.More problems but still living....0
