What I’d like to know is “What gear should the bike have to ride at 90 rpm up a slope with 1 OS chevron on it?”

    +1... and who says you have to climb hills at 90 RPM's? Sounds a bit much to me unless you've really got some really low gears or legs of steel or a really, really, really, short hill.
