She asks for advice on what kit to get and off she goes, it's great I've never had any grief about cycling kit, the other week she suggested I upgrade my tt bike - beautiful.
Presume Mrs Kilo is a euphemism for the 'other' Mr Kilo?
No it's a name for my wife, she likes cycling.0 -
the cruddies seem to have a thing about horses you can get them downhill and pretty quick0

Wrong tyre choice, look how the rear end has just locked up
Childish mistake.0 -
Not that interested but she might consider a bike to pootle down towpaths on holidays - not sure if its a good investment. She'd be crap at any form of fun/interesting MTB'ing (anything involving speed, gradients, air or any form of risk)."I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." mine used to, but stopped after a big crash at CYB. Now we have kids she just does the fire tracks type stuff0

Mine is, he's also my personal bike mechanic. \o/
On the downside, he does have a disturbing habit of hoarding old tyres, regardless of how old and worn they are. I swear, you go in the shed and there's more everytime, they're breeding...0 -

I take the other half out on teh kind of trails I love and she ends up crapping herself and hitting me. So... I need to find a trail she can access. The red at Sherwood Pines is probably easy enough0 -

Need some tips cause I would love for her to come riding with me
I’ve been married for nearly 27 years and Mrs C has been on a bike for around a dozen times. And, that’s all been in the past 2 years!
She fell off one of those fold up bikes many years ago when we were courting. Took a huge chunk of skin off her knee-cap, requiring a trip to the hospital to have it stitched up. (On a side note, I beat the ambulance to the hospital on my road bike…).
Since then, she’d always been anti-bikes.
What persuaded her to get back on a bike was a visit by Homer’s Double and Mrs D to south Wales. We went to Afan Argoed trail centre and rode the old railway line trail to the café and Glyncorwyg, had lunch and rode back. She wasn’t fast and definitely wasn’t confident. The conditions were awful, with driving rain and wind. However, she seemed to enjoy the whole ‘getting out there and just doing it’ thing. I don’t think she’d have ever tried anything like this without the ‘peer pressure’ and I’m eternally grateful to Rich and Gill for this.
We’ve been back there quite a few times and also ridden the family trail at the Forest of Dean. She currently won’t ride anything too extreme (she walks down/up the slope leading to the café at Glyncorwg), but she’s definitely getting quicker. It’s also helped that she’s now got her own cycling gear.
My advice, take it easy. Go for a cycling type day, including a picnic or pub lunch rather than a “shred the gnarcore” ride. Make the day more about being outside, enjoying the scenary/lunch/company rather than the actual riding.0 -

Easy enough, but mind-numbingly dull. Unless you're on a road bike0 -
why on earth would you want you other half to ride bikes?
So you get some kind of hideous inverse matching kit?0 -
To spend some time with them? Possibly share something you enjoy with someone whose company you enjoy?
You know, complicated things like that.0 -

For us maybe, but for them, it's probably a bit more exhilerating...
That said, I have seriously considered doing our next ride on the CX bike... :twisted:0 -
I still need to test my forks. Now they actually seem to be working and doing, well, forky stuff!0

I just like some of my own time thanks. I can't understand those "we do everything together" type couples it just looks dull and soppy.
I'd imagine that couples with some individual interests generally have far more rewarding relationships.0 -

That's assuming biking is the only thing you do and you go on every ride together. Not really likely to happen I expect.0 -

Hoarse riding is great, once your done you can eat your ride0 -
My other half used to ride when she was younger, broke her bike and didn't get it repaired. Now she is expressing and interest again. I did get a Orange Diva demo bike from my shop the other week and she really enjoyed getting out and riding again. She's currently saving up for a Myka and shall be joining me on the trails in the new year.
She's also expressed an interest in helping me dig some trails in a local woods....0 -
Nice,
My encounters with riding women have been mixed. Some were more interested in colour co-ordinating the bike than actually riding it, and others have been good.
But the worst were the whiney one's who used the but I'm a woman as an excuse of there speed on some sections, which is crap as i know a couple of lasses that can wallop my butt, up and down trails all day very annoying.
But i think it would be nice to get a lass to ride with, I have the feeling if i don't find a new partner who is interested in riding then it probably wont work these days lol/0 -
Nope and I'm happy with that. There is no need for couples to be in each others pockets all the times and we all need a bit of "me" time. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0
