...or maybe not and there is just some issue with the powertap/ garmin.

I am sure I will get slaughtered for asking this, as I am sure that it has been asked before (I did use the useless search function!)

Ever since I switched from a Powertap Pro to a SL I get these weird readings. I still have the same headunit (705) and apart from re-calibration haven't changed anything.

Any idea where this is coming from?

Are you running the latest firmware on the Garmin? I had issues with data drops when I swapped from a hired PT Pro+ to my own SL+

I got over 45,000 watts on my ride (with you NapD!) the other day.

I'm assuming that since I wasn't strapped to the Space Shuttle at the time that it was just an error!

@NapD: I agree must be galactic forces

@ Bronzie: yes got 3.2, you still having issues

@Pokerface: Congrats you beat me! ;-)...so what do you do, just delete the entry from the timeseries? Does it occur regularly? I am just surprised that i never had these issues with my old PT and now it's almost on every ride...what PT do you have?

It's possible, as you held on to my wheel as we pulled out of that junction in Alderley Edge...

I have a Pro+. No - it doesn't happen a lot. And I think it's a Garmin problem more than a PT one (I use a Garmin 500 head unit). Can't recall the problem happening with my LYC.

Only problem with the massive reading is it messes up the ride stats. Probably will have to delete those rides from my logs to keep everything kosher.

@NapD - it was when I was trying to hold your wheel going up the hill towards the Wizard. You were doing 45,012 watts.

Doesn't really say where the problem is though as it could simply be that the LYC removes any spurious values rather than recording them.

I don't see them on any of our 3 PT wheels.

I climbed 465,000ft in 63miles last weekend according to my garmin, but i have lost 1/2lb&a new saddle thats 8grams lighter so i suppose i might have climbed that much without noticing
  • It's garmin. I once did 113mph on my bike. Apparently. I've also frequently hit between 65-80 as well. 310XT.
  • I think I know where Bhima gets his data from.

If you go into the 'raw data' on wko+ you can edit the blips out. I tend to edit them in though ;)

Just edit the file and replace the dodgy numbers with something sensible based on the few seconds either side. Simple.

How do you edit the file?

Is it a .tcx or the .fit? If its a .tcx just open it with notepad or any text editor, edit and save. If its the .fit not sure.

You can also edit the files in your power meter software. If using WKO+ you use the 123 view to change any values you don't like the look of. In GC you can use the ride editor to amend any dodgy values.

The other day I was asked to power the launch mechanism of this roller coaster by hooking it up to my turbo...
