Just the two sportifs. Les deux etapes du tour. I will be giving the Pitlochry Etack, the Cheshire wotsit and Dragon slaying on the Rhigos a miss. Have enjoyed them all (except for the tack throwing) in the past.

will be getting ready for the 21 hairpins by cycling from LA to Boston in early summer. Walking into a lunchstop cafe in Texas in neon coloured lycra might play out like a scene from Priscilla queen of the desert.....

I am old enough to qualify for cheap train travel. Why can't we oldies get half price carbon race bikes?
  • Cumbrian Christmas Cracker on 5th Dec (tho' that's this year) - 57m

Richmond Sportive (end of May), probably the 80m option

Cumberland Challenge in Sept (100km option)

Columba Chemo Classic (Nov) - best of the lot, 62m.

Thanks for helping me sort out next year's calendar!

    :D

    Etape du Dales.

    La Marmotte.

    Ryedale Rumble.

First time doing La Marmotte so I'm pretty revved up for that. The EdD is a great ride. I usually aim to be round in less than 6h30...if I do I know I'm going alright. The Ryedale is something I've done for a few years. I vow never to go back but can't help myself.
  • March - Dafodil Classic

    May - CarTen 100m

June - Dragon Grand Fondo 200k

    July - L'Etape Act 1

    September - TransCambrain

Probably more inbetween but nothing set in stone yet

CarTen is an annual charity ride for local childrens hospice, New Dragon route Bwlch2 x 2 good training for the etape, it's bad enough once let alone twice. Looking forward to 1st etape. Best UK sportive in september imho.

I personally do a mixture of Audax and sportives which gives me a greater spread of events and greater value for money whilst still earning some domestic points!

For Sportives I shall be doing:

    Etape Caledonia (May)
    Great Nottinghamshire Bike Ride (June)
Phil Liggett CTC challenge event (August)

    Audax:

    Three fields 100k (March)
    Charnwood in spring 100k (March/April)
    Roses to Wrags 200k (March)
Everybody Rides to Skeggy 300k (April)
    Tramway 100 (June)
    Cheshire Cat (audax) 200k (July)

    For pleasure:

Nottingham to Northallerton via Humber Bridge and Yorkshire Moors (May/June)
    Fred Whitton Challenge route
Coast to Coast route in one day
Manali to Khardung La in the Himalayas (Aug)

I'm doing the Pendle witches vintage velo. Hopefully the spud riley.

I'm organising some sportives but the drawback is not getting to ride them.

As of today I am signed up for:

February - Hell of the Ashdown - as an early season target so that I don't spend all the winter vegging out, at least next year it isn't in January so hopefully no black ice
March - Burgess Hill Springtime Classic
May - Felice Gimondi (Bergamo in Italy) - for a first taste of real mountains, with pasta thrown in
July - Etape du Tour (the Alpe d'Huez one) - will be my 10th....

Will try to get a few more in as the New Year arrives. Following Merkcx time on the bike is everything. Unfortunately won't have the time to do the L2P next year....
