Jockey wheels are from Toronto Cycles. In fact, all of my red bits and bolts are from them. Some dont like the standard of the colour from them (for green anyway) but im quite happy with the red. They only charge $5 for postage to the UK, so they are a good option.

First proper ride this morning. Did 10 miles trail riding to work. The seating position is quite different. I thought that i would feel more stretched out, but i actually felt more compact. I may have to alter the stem/post to fix that as i do prefer a stretched out position. Carbon feels v different from aluminium. Almost a "bounce" to the rear of the bike. However, much more comfortable. Only thing letting that down i feel is the seatpost, which has an alu core. May swap out for a full on carbon post.

Decided that im gonna try some XC racing next year. I have the bike for it...

Thinking of entering the series of races in Wales, starting in Feb.

Fantastic build, looks much better than the equivalent Specialized's, of which I saw hundreds today.

I've got a spare set of SPDs kicking around somewhere if you want to try em for postage. No cleats or anything though.

First go on the Formulas yesterday. TBH my trip to work and back doesnt have any significant downhill sections (unfortuntaley), but they are top notch.

Both the Avids and XT brakes ive used didnt work this well straight out of the box

    V impressed

USE post being fitted this weekend

Big thanks for the spare seatclamp bits from VWSurfbum

Some more changes to the Scale

Spesh Toupe Team Saddle and USE Sumo post now fitted. Think it finishes off the bike quite well.

    SANY0042.jpg

    Now for the important part

    SANY0041.jpg

Now its not the most accuarate scale, but thats 9.5kgs in anyones book

I couldnt get my existing tyres to go tubeless unfortuntaley, otherwise we would be looking at 9.1kgs

Bike is pretty much done now. Happy with the weight now. May try tubeless again tho ;)

You'll note that im ignoring the SPD digs LOL

First ride in the new saddle this morning. Given just how little padding there is, its actually pretty comfortable. Also grips well.

Post appears to take some sting out of the ride, but that is prob the ti rails on the seat

Fitted some Mountain Kings yesterday as the Twisters were a bad choice for muddy conditions (nearly lost it twice on Friday's run)

Well chuiffed with the bike now. Feels spot on now.

Saddle looks a little nose up, which won't help the comfort. Avoid landing on it too, I snapped a couple of Toupes on MTBs, now use Phenom SLs.

some more changes to the Scale

recently moved to 1x9, so front shifter and front mech have gone

    SANY0113.jpg

replaced SLX chainring with a Renthal SR4 36T. Also made the move to SPD's with Brank Bros Candy X (and am pleased to say i really like them)

    SANY0110.jpg

nice clean cockpit. Lock on grips changed for S-Works bar tape.

    SANY0114.jpg

    new Ritchey WCS headset

    SANY0112.jpg

currently running Mountain Kings, but have some EVO Racing Ralphs and Rocket Rons in the cupboard, which if i can get to run tubeless, will take the Scale down under 9kgs

once the weather dries out a bit, ill give it a try

dont mess up the handling and ride for weight saving mind....mines 8.9kg without even trying and its too flighty for me.

im actually looking at ways to add a more balanced pound or two to mine.

did feel flighty when i first started riding it (compared to the 'Hopper), but im used to it now

it has my heavy ass sat on it, which is a good ballast LOL

Im getting into dimishing returns now anyway. The amount i would need to spend to save any decent weight would be too much. Unless i start spending serious cash on diff wheels and carbon cranks (which would only save me a few hundred grams), then its gonna be a couple of hundred grams off the wheels from going tubeless, which is relatively cost effective.

I may venture into XTR territory if i can find a bargain rear mech on eBay, but thats less about weight and more about the sexyness of an XTR rear mech 8)

nice bike dude i too have a custom built scale and i run a ralph on the back and a rocket ron on the front with a stans no tube kit so no need for heavy ust tires, you will need to use a compressor to get em up but well worth the hassle as you save a lot of weight plus you can roll lower pressure, also try some ritchey foam grips there light and look a lot neater than tape, oh and dont worry about losing handling its a scale the ultimate cross country race machine the lighter the better  how do you find 1x9? and a 36t i run a renthal 34 but thinking about a 36
