Morning all

Just a taster of whats coming....

SANY0037.jpg

The frame and forks are in amazing condition. Look to me that they have only been used once or twice - result !

Should start work on it this weekend

And as you're no doubt aware you'll need a new front mech (E-type) and seatpost (34.9) too.

That will look sweet when done. I had the 2007 Scale 20 and loved it, ebayed it for a new bike then kicked myself in the face for doing it

A really fast bike, and flies uphill. You won't be disapointed.

with E-Type mech (and some anodised red goodness). See how clean the chain suck guard is ? this frame is virtually unused

    SANY0064.jpg

Frame shot with the cockpit added

    SANY0066.jpg

    SLX crankset added

    SANY0070.jpg

V clean XT Shadow Mech (being fitted tom)

    SANY0071.jpg

Wheels with tyres (not going tubeless just now)

    SANY0073.jpg

More pics tom. Bike should be done by then.

    Pretty much done

    SANY0065.jpg

Only the seatclamp and front brake to sort

    Initial weight estimate is 10.5kgs

Ideally i want to break the 10kgs mark. Toying with swapping out the 4 pot calipers for some Formulas, which would shed around 700g.

If ican get the tyres to work on UST then that would shed another 500g as well...
  • Very nice looking, and sounds like with the mods you want will be a very decent weight as well.

    Nice build!
  • top class!

ive strted my first custom build and am looking forward to the process! :D
  • mmmmmmmmm................lol love the bike !!! :D

    LOL

You think i should go for SPD ? not sure my knees would like that

Plus i like my Stan Smiths too much to go to using SPD shoes

another, better pic (still getting to grips with my new camera)

    CIMG1577.jpg

this time with frame tape added and tyres pumped up properly. Am itching to take it out, but am having trouble sourcing a Red Hope seatclamp to finish it off...

brake caliper adaptor should be here tom, so will tick that off

    brake adaptor here :D

obtained from Koo-Bikes - great service and rapid despatch

just need to find a seatclamp....
  • Would recommend SPDs I switched a year or so back and cannot go back to flats, but its personal preference at the end of the day really :)

LBS getting seatclamp for tom lunchtime
  • That's lovely. Proper xc machine. Definitely something I aspire to build at some point.

Having been let down by Hope and the LBS, i didnt get the seatclamp i needed today, so i have managed to fit the smaller clamp. Only 2mm out, so managed to cram it on and get it fastened.

Took it out for a quick ride out the back of the house and jesus its rapid. The Fox forks are a massive improvement over the Toras, especially as the lock-out actually works LOL. Frame feels v different from the Hopper, in a good way :D

Only slight change i need to make is a new rotor for the back. The G2 i have in there just now is slightly warped, so needs replacing.

Doing 20 miles on Tuesday (work and back), so looking forward to that :D

    That saddle angle looks painful!

LOL, i do like it to angle back slightly. Feels like im sliding off otherwise. TBF the angle of the pic makes it look worse than it is.

Its a v comfortable saddle. Compared to the Spesh saddle that was on there before, its like a comfy chair.
  • I`d have gone for black pedals personally... apart from that, VERY nice bike!
Where you get the red jockey wheels from?
    It`s changed a bit since...
