Hip and quad injuries

I've been time trialling and road racing since April, completing about 20 races, with no injuries.
However, after completing a 25m TT at the beginning of August (knocking 4mins off my pb to break the hour) I've hardly been able to ride.
While I was warming down the insides of my thigh down to my quads both felt like they'd been kicked by a horse.
I had a week off but the pain didn't go and I started to get a dull ache in my right hip.
I had 6 weeks of sports physio (hip flexor problem diagnosed) but the problem never went fully so I went to a chiropractor who said my pelvis was unevenly balanced and i had weak quads. This pelvic problem is now meant to be rectified but as I've started riding again (after the best part of 2 months off and at a very steady pace) I still have right hip ache, have developed left hip ache and my quads and thighs are both sore again (been doing exercies to strengthen them).
Had an x-ray yesterday and the surgeon thinks it must be muscle damage and the only cure is rest.
GUTTED.
Been referred to NHS physio but all I want to do is ride.
Wondered if anyone else has suffered similar problems or has any advice. It'd be much appreciated, thanks

  • X ray wont show muscle damage but has presumably excluded bone damage. Just a possibility that there is nerve damage - that the pain you experience is coming from a back problem.
If you are a female there is a chance you are suffering from the kind of pain & weakness caused by hormonal effects on semi fixed bone joints in the pelvis - usually seen at end of pregnancy - painful & debilitating - but passes after child birth !!! ( I speak from experience!)

My guess is (& I'm not a medical proffesional ) that straightforward muscle tear would have pretty much healed after 2 months - so its back to a physio or similar I suspect.
