    Although just about all frames are made in Asia the European bound ones at least are painted locally, often in Belgium, but also in France even at the cheaper end of the market.

    I dont for one minute believe that a major manufacturer like Merckx would allow his sponsered teams to ride another companys frameset . It would cause untold damage to his reputation and business.

    Big Eddy has been down this road before. At the time of the Motorola squad, the team was sponsored by Caloi, a Brazillian bike manufacturer, As the Caloi range wasn't exactly up to scratch, Merckx supplied frames to the squad which were labelled Caloi

    Funny thing is that the "Caloi by Merckx" titanium team frames were actually made by Litespeed.

    In any case, didn't Merckx sell the bike operation a year or so ago?
