Hold on a second. You want to compete in Otley CC TT's next year? Are you not already a member of the club?

If not - why not join them. And if so - why not RIDE with them? I'm confused.
  • Sorry to confuse you hehe... My husband is a member already and he want me to join next year but I said I want to lose few pounds first and be really fit before I join.

here's an idea - how about going on rides with the Otley club..??
  • Know what you mean I went through the same thing end of last year after buying a road bike on impulse, well it was lust really for the bike.

I wanted to join my local club to go out and learn how to ride but felt shy that I wasn't good enough and wanted to get out on my own. So in the end I did 3 weekends of rides for about and hour first then hour and half until the third one I could do 2 hours. I joined the club only to find out that they were all really nice people and with 4 groups for different pace's I needn't have done any training prior to joining. Any half decent club should cater for and also actively encourage you as not only a new member but also a new rider.

If I were you I would just join the club and get out with them as you will soon find other people of a similar level to yourself and that should make you feel more and ease but also help you enjoy your biking. Plus you'll probably find a few riders also train together outside of the normal club runs which should help you with the fitness side of things.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.
