Just wandering how others deal with it.The small group i lead at the weekends can be a right old noisy bunch.I'm forever having to turn around to tell those at the back to shut up! This is becoming rather tiresome on a long ride&spoils the piece&quiet i'm enjoying.Sometimes i feel like i'm in charge of a load of school children not grown ups.On a recent ride whilst i was answearing a call of nature behind a hedge they all rode of&left me alone,it took me ages to catch up as they were going hell for leather for some reason.Usualy they just pootle along&i have to chastise them to go at even a half decent speed. When i get back from a ride, after telling them what i think of their performance on the ride,i wander is it all worth it?I'm seriously thinking of denying some of them the chance to come on one of my rides if they don't start complying with my rules.

Er go riding on your own? From what you say, it doesn't look like you get much out of group riding.
  • sounds to me like you need to get em organised, don,t take any shananigans, if they mess you around show em who,s boss, let their tyres down or put their brakes on - make em work n sweat , you;ll soon have em eating out of your hand as they beg for mercy, or your bike will be up a tree ....

It sounds like you want them to do as you want and they want to do what they want. Riding off and making you chase them down was probably them trying to tell you something.

Time to reconsider what you're doing with them, methinks.

    What this man says.

You thought that they should do exactly as you wished, while they just wanted to enjoy themselves. You lost them and you won't get them back. My advice would be to step down in favour of someone with more empathy and more willing to find common ground.

I'm afraid I don't have the time to peruse the internet all day, so if this is referring to some other thread, then I missed it. I was just taking it at face value.

  • Try Googling the phrase "tongue in cheek".

    Then re-read the OP.

Then feel free to slap your own forehead and shout "D'oh!!"

That's great if you believe that the internet is free of pompous, self-righteous morons. I don't.

It's clearly not free of people entirely lacking in a sense of humour. Since we are taking things at "face value", it's apparently not free of scumbag gunslingers-for-hire either, or is there just the teensiest possibility that you might not in fact be Carlos The Jackal?

    Lighten up, fer crissakes.. :D

Choose one from the group and make an example of him.

Shot to the back of the head will work you won't hear a peep out of them again.
  • You'll be the guy I see some evenings in Meyrick Park, holding his willy and trying to jump on a bike? :D

I'm a bit disappointed, I looked at this thread thinking it was about someone forming a new beat combo.

    Thought what up?

It doesn't seem so hard to do. Just open a thread with an obviously fictitious and very nearly amusing little description of something that didn't happen.

Then sit back and (presumably) be really pleased with your work.

Get involved and invent your own if you love it so much.
