Tenerife. Where to stay?

Hi
I'm organising for the usual spring camp for me and 15 fellow racers.
Tenerife this year.
Could anybody advise me where to stay?
Is the North of the island very different from the South?
We will NOT be going to Las Americanas. I have had a tip that Medano, on the south coast, is good. That would be perfect as we fly into the south airport.
But lots of the tenerife cycling websites seem to be based at the North of the island.
Going 1st week of March, so guessing weather is no problem.
Is the South baren and bleak and the North a bit more lush?
In the unlikely event that any of you know of a couple of big apartments or a decent but cheap hotel that likes cyclists, that would be great.
Many thanks
Martin

weather in the north of the Island is said to be wetter than the south, but I've only ever stayed in the south, so can't really verify one way or the other. My parents stayed in the north once, and they said it was wetter...
Los Christianos would be a good base in the south - but the most of the apartments are not really geared up for big numbers. Plenty of villas out of town though....0 -
Thank you soft lad.
Satelite pic certainly looks a lot drier in the south.
Cheers for the Los Christianos tip.
