Heart rate sensors - Garmin & polar)

Anyone know if a Polar Heart rate monitor transmitter strap will work with a Garmin base unit (e.g. Edge, Dakota, etc). Does it need to be a coded one?
Recipe: shave legs sparingly, rub in embrocation and drizzle with freshly squeezed baby oil.

    Depends on which strap. There are many.

    got an old (uncoded) Polar strap and can borrow a coded one. Just wanted to know, beofre fiddling with them if a Garmin can pick the up or not

    I am pretty sure the Polar wont work with the Garmin certainly does not work with my 705.

    Is it an ANT+ one?, surely all ANT+ devices are interchangable?

    One of the polar straps can be used with the Garmin transmitter (some people that suffer from erroneous HR readings use it I believe).

    Do Polar even use ANT+?
    More problems but still living....

    It appears not (according to Google), polar has its own propriatory wireless system.
