My copy should be waiting at home for me.. I have tomorrow off to go and buy a car.. lol, thats not gonna happen...
  • I have to say Activision have done a good job at making people forget the team that made this is the same that made the totally underwhelming World At War (rather than the Modern Warfare games).

Hopefully they'll have learned since then

Amazon, their normally really good. It was sent on Saturday for delivery today but the postman hasn't been round yet so it's down to bad Royal Mail rather than Amazon.

He's normally around before the wife goes to work at 0830 as we're less than 2 min walk from the local sorting office type place.

Hmm, same here. I'm slightly further than that, but it's about 20 minutes walk. Postie gets here any time between 10:00 and 2:00pm.

    ^^True dat!

I thought the single player was meant to be great in world at war?
  • just went home and my copy from play has arrived. jumped online for 20 mins or so before i came back to work.

graphic wise dont see it as an improvement to mw2, sound and play is very similar though. but definatley feels more like your playing waw if that makes sense.

ranked up to level 7 now, layout is confusing in the menus so will take a while to get used to but looks like there's plenty of options etc.

first impressions are its another COD so will play it for the forseeable until the next one comes out, i didnt like the other two when they first came out but both kept me entertained for a year or so!

    role on 530.....
  • WOW and COD players have a different type of geek. If I had to be geeky about one I'd rather be more "ooooh big guns" than "ooooh look at my elfy ears and magic balls"

I'm geekier about Battlefield more myself. Pretty much decided to assemble me a gaming rig to play it on rather than console (so can keep playing)

  • To be fair I'd rather be geeky about a game with some depth than to a fairly mindless shooter :P

I mean anyone who plays an FPS on a console is a bit lost already, as PC FPS play is way more aggressive. The humble mouse allowing greata ccuracy and speed in shots.
  • Totally agree with the FPS on PC. Only been laziness on my part (and not wanting to shell out for new gfx cards every other year) that ever got me shotting people on console.

As for depth? Depends really. I'd rather be jumping into action straight away and feeling like I'm having fun than spending weeks stabbing rats until my xp is high enough to actually do anything

  • LOL, With wow now, you can get to top level in a week they have made leveling so easy for shallow gamers :(
Shame it's becoming more like an FPS every day.

BUt Damn straight ral competetive gaming happens on PC's and no mistake. :p

Team fortress? aahh! brings back memories.
I'm also an avid PC gamer for FPS games. But, the spli-screen co-op in COD:Black Ops on the Xbox means I'll be getting it on the console this time.
Online gaming sucks, frankly, on the consoles.
  • Team Fortress was fucking awesome back in the day. I used to play with alot of prem UKTFCL folk as was a great laugh (also played alot of CS 1.3) but the hassle and expense of upgrading had me drifting more towards consoles. I'd rather spend £300 on a console that I know will have games released for it for 5 years than spending a bucket on gfx card, processor etc that will probably be barely able to run games brought out a year later (with all the bells and whistles on...as they should be played).

I mind when the last Crysis game came out and if you wanted to run it with all the settings up max you pretty much had to have the bank account of a 3rd world dictator to afford the bits and bobs.
Only game I play on PC these days is football manager (which will have to change as I have mentioned before)

  • Harldy,

My 2 year old machine still mangles most stuff now at max settins and the box cost me £600, and i can media center it to run the whole front rooms blue rays which are now a media library on my hard drive :p way better hehe.

I have to say i got into the Jedi Academy games on line. :p they were cool but console owners wont know these aboslute gems.
  • I still want Black Ops so bad, I don't care if people are saying it's not that good. It'll be fun.

Same here, sort of. My machine is even older, I think. It's a Q660 quad core, with a GTS 8800 graphics card. The only thing letting it down with modern games is the graphics card, but it will still run them happily, but only at 720p, instead of my monitor's native 1920x1200.
I also get all my television through it, using media center (which is just awesome), and it's also my hifi. It's connected via my old studio soundcard to my old Pioneer amplifier, dricing a set of B&Ws.
So sure, it cost me around £550 or so to build initially, but it does so much more than any console.
And the neat thing is, I can pop my xbox into any telly in the house, and it becomes an instant freeview receiver/recorded when linked to the PC via wifi!
    SWEET!

But, the main advantage of the xbox, is split screen multiplayer. It's always good to have some friends over and have a good old fashioned co-op game..
