I'm not normally a show off and don't care what bikes I or people ride, or what people at trails centres think either, but there is a bike that currently has me frothing at the mouth and is what I would class as a 'head turner' if I was to turn up at my local trail centre on it, they would all be nudging each other and nodding in my direction...pssstt, cop that over that over there, more money than sense him. :D

And here she is, I give you Excalibur. I might even consider keeping this on in the bedroom if I was lucky enough to own her 8)

if i passed that in a trail centre Id think, oh look another specialized.

i did the sky ride in manchester and saw so many of the bloody things i swore off em.
good but common, like a ford.

I saw an orange 5 in my LBS today in white and black fully hope'd up, amazingly finished with Ti and carbon bits in all the right places, looked truly stunning but not too in your face.

that would do it for me.

PS specialized quite popular but for the right reason's I expect

PPS but I do like my Meta 4.3 it's only low end but I cant stop looking at it, lovely bike and rides like a dream :D

  • Forget it, the thread was meant to be about bikes you may consider your 'dream bike' if you had the cash, I can see from the sarcastic (par for the course) answers this was lost in translation.

Delete thread, me and whatever else you wish, perhaps start a thread about retro unicycles made from 2nd had parts in my honour.

Yes and like Fords they are affordable, handle really well and have a great spec for the money

As this thread is meant to be about head turning bikes, and Specialized bikes are common as muck. I don't think you could count them in here.

I mean it would take a pretty special Ford going down the road to hold my attention for my than 2 seconds.

If you want a head-turner with a common bike then you need to do something bonkers like fit a lefty...

I saw one of those up on the South Downs Way a few weeks back. I did turn my head and have a good look... and then I wondered how much it cost (£5,500  ).

    wow i broke mental mickey!
    sorry.

i didnt say i didnt like em, i wanted an enduro for a very long time.
and ive worked on em so i know how good they are, but just a bit common.

i have a giant, the vauxhaul of the bike world if you will.
but it is a VT so i like to think its more a Monaro than Corsa.

i bought it because i found it in our warehouse and it wasnt technically in stock, so got the brand new frame for £200 (price of the shock alone!),

and it was voted 2nd best bike of the decade.

    after the Spesh Enduro.

    Any cosworth, mk1 Mexico, rs200,rs2000.

I've see more of those fords than I have spesh s-works.

Not any Cosworth, the Sapphire and Escorts don't float my boat. A RS500 would hold my attention.

Something rare like a original RS200 (there are more replicas around that real ones)would also get my attention, but both of these cars are the automotive equivalent of a team specification Specialized

my mate jocktus had a mark 1 mexico....

i think he ended up with with a pinto small block in it...

    it caught fire.

I don't think that the specialized bike is a head turner....

It might have been....had they not used the same paint job on every bike from the cheapest rockhopper up...

That whyte.....or is it a marin....same thing...I would turn my head....i would be agog. then i would probably be sick!

That 2011 S-Works is £6300, not exactly affordable to most folk, in fact there are probably only a couple of more expensive bikes on here! You could build it up for comparable money too, if not cheaper, so arguably not great for the money either.

They're investing more in R&D than any of the niche brands, which is what you're paying for, rather than the smaller production numbers. They're not exactly unusual though it has to be said!

Because of where I'm lucky enough to live I ride Cwmcarn or Afan virtually every weekend - arguebly the some of the most popular centres in the UK. After a couple of noob weeks of bikespotting I rarely pay any attention to other peoples bikes, tbh I've "seen it all".

You occationally spot the odd bike that's been over-pimped in sat ourside the Cafe, white frames with colour coded everything or bikes that seem to be specced to look pretty rather than ride well (DH spec kit on XC bikes for example).

I think most people are concentrating on enjoying their ride, if you want to be 'seen' I think you'll need a very blightly coloured custom build with a frame from one of the smaller companies like a Cove, SC, Turner etc.

But if you're basing your next bike purchase on that, you probably have the wrong hobby.

And get upset when their friends don't 'like' their MyFace status.
