All I can say is that, contrary to the internet norm, we have a thread where the participants should actually be willing to admit that they're all talking balls.

I'm amazed by how many people on here have had the op. Is it that we had toughened up enough that saddles no longer caused any pain down there so we opted to have ba*tard with a knife attack them instead?

It's a minor surgical procedure carried out using local anaethetic, which is less risky than a general anaesthetic and laparoscopic surgery which is what a woman would have to go through to achieve the same thing.

Seemed the sensible thing to me since we already have 2 more kids than we can afford.

I still wouldn't have it done.

had the Op back in March. Forced myself to stay off the bike for 2 weeks (although feeling fine after 10 days). Spend about 10 days on turbo sessions then back on the road / MTB - no problems at all since.
Approach every problem in life like a dog - if you can't eat it or hump it, p**s on it and walk away...

  • Hey maybe this'll make you feel better or worried...

When I had the snip the recovery was pretty good I was back on the bike after about 10 days...thought something was up when the hospital kept sending me sample pots, must have got through about five or six and was then called back in to be told the op had not worked so would have to go back in for another chop.

Second time round the recovery was not good at all. I ended up with an infection and testicles the size of small melons (I kid you not). There was no chance of being seen in public, walking was a challenge and no chance of sitting on a bike. It took about 10 days for the swelling to come down and it was 4 weeks before I could ride again. It has been absolutely fine since mind.

Take it easy and good luck with the recovery.

Back in 1975 things were real. None of your fancy anaesthetics and scalpels. Bite on a plug of chewing tobacco while the butcher had at you with club hammer and bolster. Soluble stitches? steel staples more like, which you pulled out with your teeth once they were properly rusty. Young people these days
