If the start is delayed, they should delay the show afterwards, rather than cutting in just at the end so they can say it's "live".

What annoyed me most wasn't that they stayed with the tennis until it finished but that they didn't cut away from it as soon as the final point was won which you would have expected with them being half an hour behind schedule.

Cycling just isn't that popular, that's why it's not on Sky, if there was money to be made from the coverage do you think Europsort would have it? Eurosport is cheap and cheerful. Sure Sky do a better job with timings and coverage, but then how much do you pay for it?

Also, as has been covered many times before, Sky could not get most of the races due to the agreement that says they need to be on free-to-air channels.

    Look today at Eurosport.

    Tennis to 1.45
    Watts 1.45 to 2.00
Tour of Lombardy highlights 2.00 to 3.30.

Surely there cannot be a repeat of Saturday.

Just turned on at 1.55 to see the first game of a new tennis match.

Cycling now on Euro 1 at 2.25 and Euro HD at 3.30. Whether these times will be adhered to will remain to be seen. At least I am watching "live" so can turn to Euro 2 to watch motor sport. Pity any soul who has set to record.

Unfortunately I think we have to be happy with what we get. Eurosport do seem to have shown more races this year than last which is good. It's a low budget station, but as others have said I don't think there's enough profit in it for anyone to make it any better.

I appreciate the issues with live sport running over and I know they can't just bail out of one event or they'd just get a load of angry tennis fans rather than cycling fans. What annoys me is that they were showing old motorbike crash videos on E2 at the time so surely they could have binned that and put the cycling on E2?!

    F*cking Eurosport.

Coffee made and brownie ready to be eaten watching Lombardy in HD. What do I get bloody womens tennis.

    A sidenote.
I was on hols during the WCs, so I dutifully recorded the scheduled options.

Watched the women's race today. Started half an hour late, then they showed the mundane stuff. Onto the final lap..........ad break....................they return with both the climbs omitted and the final selection made in their absence.
I mean, wtf? Who on earth edited out all the crucial bits? It was like watching highlights of a football match with the goals removed.

I think that they really don't give a second thought to what happens outside of their "prime" sports and their live scheduling. For the rest it's a crude hatchet job to fill in the gaps.

It's not as if we don't pay a heavy premium, either.

I've seen this said before, but isn't Eurosport a 'pay' channel? How can you get it for free? I know it's cheap compared to Sky Sports or ESPN as it's in one of the 'lesser' Sky packages, and presumably the like Virgin product, but it's not free is it?

Well frankly I think we get a good deal. We've had loads more races this year and what about the times the cycling runs over? Anyway the weather was so dreadful on Sat there were probably difficulties getting pictures. It was a bit patchy with all the wet anyway. And we saw the best bits so I don't know why some of you moan.
I don't want to pay extra to see it on Sky anyway so I'm happy with my Virgin cable and no frills or extras. Give me Eurosports and the Hallmark channel and I'm happy :D

Fair play to Eurosport, they do show a lot of racing during the course of season, which is more than you get with terrestrial channels and/or Sky. Problem is the quality of the coverage is very poor - they just seem to show the last 50km, having arrived late, vertue of an overrun of the preceeding programme. On Saturday, I was especially impressed with them showing replays of last years' finish, during the last 1km of the live coverage??!!! Garbage, but then again, it's all we've got!

I think those repeats were the host broadcaster rather than ES though to be fair.
