Got a wired SRM coming my way from the States which has a US charger. I need to source a universal adapter or the UK charger for the PCV.

Can anyone help? PM me, Cheers Andy.

Some chargers will take any voltage (ie 110V from the US or 240V from the UK) in which case you just need an adapter to physically fit the US plug into the UK socket.

Either get a UK socket from B&Q or whatever, chop the US plug off and wire it in. Or just get an adapter. My bike light needed one of these and the same place had adapters so I got one from there like this

  • Thanks dmch2 for the suggestion.

Problem is I'm not too sure if the SRM charger takes 240v. I'll know more when it arrives next week. I'm pretty sure that the charger should have a simple adapter to change the pin configuration (which is missing), if that was the case then that would suggest that the charger auto regulates the voltage but I'm not 100% :?

When it arrives it'll hopefully list the inputs/outputs on the charger itself. I think chargers are more likely to be multi input voltage these days as it's cheaper to make them like that and sell them everywhere than make several different versions.

Just had a squint at the charger for my Lenovo laptop. It lists input voltage as 100-240v ac. Power supplies for desktop pc's generally have a voltage selector switch.
