Recovery waiting period

I am recovering from a pretty serious accident which led to some reconstructive surgery on my nose. The doc recommends minimum 2 weeks out of the saddle, which I intend to stick with, but has anyone out there been through a similar recovery period? I'm mid-30's and have been a commuter (about 150km/week) for years. Being off my bike is killing me, but I'm concerned about rupturing some blood vessel and knocking myself out for even longer if I don't give it time. Any experienced voices? Is two weeks too little time? Too much?
