La Palma: Canary Isles - any good for road training?

I have the opportunity to train in La Palma but I have never been. Does anyone know if the roads are in reasonable condition and worth getting my road bike out there?

    Looking on Google Earth it looks like some terrific riding country.....as for the hills, well! Take a look at route LP-4 from East to West, what a climb! I fly there regularly and the weather can be quite changeable, but have no experience of the roads, but it is just a volcanic outcrop in the ocean, so other than the coast road it is pretty up and down....

    most of the traffic is around Las Palmas. If you can head down to the south there are some great roads - it will all be climbing though but that means you can do this


    - 8 minutes of descent down roads as smooth as a babies bottom. never had that in the Alps !
