Tony Martin has abandoned. Lightweight. I can't understand these people who don't come to race.

Maybe he would have hung around, if the organisers offered him a bundle of cash?
Still, at least he didn't climb off before Constitution Hill, on Monday.

Not sure Tony Martin is worth much of an appearance fee. If they'd forked out to get a real megastar like Lance, the race would be much higher profile.

A certain Mr Wiggins is in the break today...

7 mins up on the Peloton... Wiggins attacked on the 3rd climb, but the break is back together now...

Haussler was in the break, but got dropped then promptly abandoned.

Todays the longest stage, so there's still around 70k to race.

    HTC have the squits.

Martin abondoned, Albasini has been back & forth to the Doctors car and Brian Holm has confimed that half the team has "stomach problems"

I really hope Dan Martin can do something today, he must deserve at least a stage win. Hoogerland has also impressed with his aggressive riding and could benefit if HTC are struggling.

Yes, no one can argue that Lance hasn't raise the profile of the TDU, for instance.

HTC visit a tourist resort and get the South Coast Squirts. Ring the tourist board,

Maybe this is what Cav was referring to with his "sh!tty little races" comment?

Martin and Frapporti jumped clear with ~ 10 km to go, Frapporti attacked Martin with 5km to go and rode solo. Martin was caught by the others

Not saying you're wrong but that conradicts the official twitter feed. This year has been a much better race but the reporting has been piss poor compared to most other races.

Out of GC interest - was Hoogerland still in the break at the finish? He seems to have disappeared in the twitter updates

Though Stokes does point out that there has been crap phone /radio coverage with big gaps in finding out what was going on

WTF, with it already having finished anyone would think it was taking place in a different time zone. Whats the idea of it being so early, to ensure no one can watch it because they are stuck at work?

    Utter rubbish.

Can you imagine the good old British public's reaction if they were held up for 5 minutes going to pick little Jonny up from school (half a mile from his house) because of a bike race? The Mail would have a field day!!

WTF - you can't have bike races finishing after people get home from work at 6pm - they've got to transfer across to Norfolk tonight!

The Tour of Poland this year was finishing in near-darkness... but yeah, I imagine they didn't have a 5 hour drive afterwards.

5 hrs? We came down to Devon on Sat and it took 7 hours....

Google Maps gives me 4h 39... on a coach I expect it's more. And traffic. It's grim however long it takes.
  • Just for reference, Martin had stomach trouble and Pinotti was suffering a cold.

And the other Martin. Class rider, sig line.
“It’s part of my character, attacking,”
Velonation: You were very aggressive today, Daniel – how soon after the start did you go up the road?

Dan Martin: I attacked at kilometre zero. We got caught again, I went again straight away, we got caught again, then I went away with [Matt] Hayman and [Johnny] Hoogerland. There wasn’t more than a kilometre when I wasn’t in the break.

Anyone got any footage? Even the most basic of Italian, French and Spanish races have video.

Also managed to get a Sky rainforest bidon from Dan Hunt's car after the stage, got Wiggins and Thomas to sign a GB jersey and got Brad's autobiography signed.
