Well it's arrived. Is purdy...all white n all (bet it won't stay that way)
I now have to find a home for it in my flat. I'm thinking about one of those floor to ceiling hanger pole setups.

I'm still felling REALLY guilty about the purchase due to the state of my finances. I had to use my credit card and I hate doing that. The only thing I've bought for myself since being on my own these 5 1/2 months is a new jacket for when the weather turns wet as my old one is an XXL. My new one is a Medium and it was 1/2 price at £80

I don't go anywhere, I haven't even been to the movies since last December. I don't have a car.I haven't had any form of holiday this year (okay a dirty weekend in London) I work damn hard 40+ something hours a week. I even have 4 weeks leave to use this year still. Yet I feel guilty about spending money on myself. i hate this

If you can afford to pay for it and will use it, fine. If not, then simply send it back.

    Love,

Sounds like the depression I slipped into after my ex Mrs, p*ssed off with a Spaniard (there's a touch of bitterness left, can you tell  ) I spent months hating myself, everything I did and the fact that I was skint due to her actions !
What ever the reason, I'm sure you've heard it all before, but; chin up, it will get better !!

Anyway, get yourself out on a crisp autumn morning, touch of frost on the ground, sunlight streaming through the mist............. Fantastic !!!

Never ever ever do you have to justify a bike or accessories purchase to yourself or anyone.

As I said earlier MTB is a filthy habit. Spent about 15 years indulging until I saw the light. Ok 2007 TDF in London

im bike-sexual, was a life long mtb,er for nearly 25 years, but last year got into road bikes and love it as much as the mtb. i go out every morning with a mate an do 25ish miles then i go mtb,ing at the weekends. i find the fitness i build on the roads helps a lot in the hills. it does puzzle the hell out of me why road bikes and all the kit cost far more than mtb gear. most i ever spent on mtb shoes was just over £100 for a pair of gore-tex boots but i just blew over £200 on a pair of sidi shoes, also a £5000 pound mtb will be dripping with technology such as hydraulic brakes, sophisticated suspension with clever dampening, tubeless wheels and so on but a similarly priced road bike although light is basically the same kind of design as years gone by. also leg shaving isnt gay as i did it as a mountain biker and mountain bikers are the least gay people ever. the only aspect i dont like about road riding is the elitist campg/assos/rapha crowd, you dont get anything like it in mountain biking

Took it out in the dirt for the first time 1st thing yesterday morning. Totally different riding style isn't it. Did 15 miles or so offroad by my estimate, then went out and did 55 miles on my road bike so she wouldn't get jealous :P

Nothing wrong with MTBs imo. Different style of riding. Nothing funnier that blasting past a roadie who gets all stressed because he's been scalped by a fat bloke on a susser.

As for the Corrs: Dara O Briain said it best.

I'm NOT stopping road riding ...I LOVE IT!!. I really do. I just don't like the prospect of crashing on the ice and damaging me or my beloved road bike.
There are absolutlely loads of Forestry trails in the New Forest and very close by.
I thought that this was just a more fun way of keeping my fitness up over the icey months and not being so risky. I think a turbo would be a waste of money as my concentration drifts (depression) I wouldn't use it after the novelty had worn off.

My road cycling buddy has a MTB as does my GF and so does one of the guys at work that wants to ride with me. If the ice isn't there it will be road all the way.

MTBing in a forest on a crisp, clear frosty morning is freakin' awesome.

Problem with that is when you chuck the bike in the car or on one of them rack things, you'll be driving home and you'll see some bloke training on his road bike. And in a few months you'll recognise him as the bloke finishing in front of you in your next race.

Don't do it Flash, it will only lead to feelings of guilt and heartache.

I no longer have a car (ex got that too) so that's a no-brainer.
I only have my bikes so anywhere I need to go, it's by bike, not that I really need to leave my town that often.
Riding is about the only thing I ever really do apart from going to work or sit in my flat or my local for some company.

I love all this bragging about overtaking another cyclist on a different kind of bike because its so pointless lol :/ Generally speaking you don't see people who own a Porsche bragging about overtaking Land Rovers lol
