Excellent!!
A thread I can hijack
Im also curious about turbos and would appreciate some help
Id have thought a sticky may have been here actually..........
Please tell me about turbo trainers then
Specifics:
1) Can I just get my regular bike, clip in and Im off? Or if I ride it on Saturday is much aggro required to turbo it on Sunday?
2) Can I use my regular wheels or will the rim/tyre get trashed
3) Is remotely variable resistance necessary or else just desirable?
4) What should I look at for £100, £200 and £300 and what do I get for each price point that the cheapies dont
5) Sufferfest!! This looks interesting, I take it Id need one with remotely variable resistance for this?
6) How stable are they when you are stood up mashing the pedals at a simulated 50kph
7) Anything else?
Many thanks0 -

Many thanks
I had naturally skimmed that thread before posting
Id still appreciate help with some of my (numpty) questions
Cheers0 -
Don't skim read then
You can use your normal bike.
Use an old tyre or a turbo specific tyre, turbos eat tyres.
I just keep my turbo skewer on my training bike all the time so I can just put it on the turbo as and when in 10 seconds.
A good fluid / wind turbo has natural resistance that means you adjust it using your gears (like the cycleops jet fluid pro that I use and rate very highly).
If it's a mag one then you'll need variable resistance.
The more you pay the more natural the feel, less dead spotting etc.
Some are more stable than others. Most are pretty sturdy, the Cycleops and Tacx Satori are very stable, even with me sprinting.0 -
EDIT: previous post above also edited to be fluffy and accommodating LOL

I am the god of hell fire wrote:OK I will now go and thoroughly read 9 pages
And Id still appreciate answers to questions 1,2,3,5 and 6
Its just that on my quick skim they didnt seem to be there
Probably as my issues would be beneath 99% of the hardcore pro riders using the forums here
We all have to start somewhere
Ive surfed this site for a while and posted only relatively recently
It often feels as tough getting a nod or a smile online as it does riding alone passing a club going the other way!
My God man!!
Did you not read my post!!0 -
Yes and you added a whole lot more after youd posted it
The first line was all that was there initially which is what wound me up0 -
That is exactly the kind of stuff I was curious about
Many thanks0 -

Its cool
AFAIK we're not yelling
The confusion was your post initially read in a confrontational way due to not appearing in its entirety
Thanks again0 -
Even with the winky little man? That should show that it's only banter...0
