DS3, C30 or Astra?

  • the new Honda Type R understears horrible in comparison to the previous one and isn't as quick either.

Try the Mugen version. I had a bit of a play in one last November. Stupidly quick and cornered like it was on rails. Granted this was on the track, so the car 'could' have been tweaked. But I was assured this was the road spec version.

Isn't the Mugen stupidly expensive though? As in approaching M3 or RS4 prices. I know what I'd rather have. I drove a normal Type R and while quite fun for a blast, there was no way I could live with it every day. It was the car equivalent of a chainsaw...brutal.

A properly specced 120 will hold its value pretty well as they're in demand due to the lower tax thresholds. It's fuckwits who spec them with steelies and no air-con that're in for a dreadful shock, them and the people who pile 5 grand's worth of extras you don't need into a base model...

My new 3 is due to sink 8k in 3 years at which point they buy it back from me for a pre-agreed price.

Cheapest expensive car I'll ever own.

You forget, it has had Alex driving it. Therefore, there is a premium for the next customer. They won't even clean the seats, so they get to keep hi scent alll over.

PCP. They're contracted in to buying the car back at that price less any excess mileage/damage.

But it wont be worth what they give you. Which seems extremely strange?

I assume you've got disprotionaly large monthly payments?

Monthly payments are considerably lower than HP. The guaranteed future value means I can't drop into negative equity.

Bottom line is, I get to drive a nice car for three for less than if I bought a korean hatchback with a loan or HP, without the risk.

it makes sense if your changing cars every 2-3 years , as long as you save along the way a deposit to do exactly the same next time around.
the PCP deals on Beemers are excelent, thats why there are so many of the bleeding things on the road.

They're pretty keen on having you back on the wagon at the end of the term too, so they tend to offer you way over the GFV so that you've got some extra pennies to put straight back as deposit.

I swear the first few months I had my car I barely saw another coupé. Last couple, I see two every day just on the way to work :(

Almost makes me wish I'd bought the apple green Scirrocco GT. Which I would have done, had the brakes not been horrible.

yeah I know. I just find it odd.

Especially after the pcp deal i got offered by audi. Their end of term offer for the car was just pathetic, 35% after 3 years!

Perhaps you were asking for PCP on the wrong car?

There's always a good demand for 3's. Especially the smaller engines.

Hold on a minute? you did buy a new one didn't you?

The audi salesman admitted that the final payment was rediculously low. But said there was nothing he could do. The only reason I asked for pcp was because I couldn't afford to buy cash. I couldn't fit in the bloody thing anyway so i left it.

the C-rocco is lovely to look at but has no way as much performance of the equilivant beemer.

  • Ant the Sarroca is a travesty to its for runner

The original was awsome the new one is Horrible looking like someone sat on the golf and said ooo that looks good (which is what they did) silly car.

The one series 130i with the M-sport pack! thats pretty good fun but heard rumours of a real M series done for the 1 series, my only hope is they lighten it and not much more power, instead of the current trend of being heavy with a huge HP number.

Whatever happened to getting a car that was less conspicuous? At least the current one has a certain amount of Q factor...
