Three very yummy new cars, which one would you lot pick if you had the budget?

Citroen DS3

Volvo C30

I would go with the new Astra personally.

  • id wait about 6 months for the new focus that comes out early 2011. and as for the astra, i wouldn't because its impossible to see the indicators when it has its running lights on (admitedly not a problem for the driver, but for everyone else)

none of the above, you really need 2 cars, a jimny for the cold and wet, then a bmw 335d for being awesome in.

I like none of those in the slightest :(
  • I'm not really a fan of most new cars. But I have a slight soft spot for those volvos.

I still wouldn't pay good money for one mind.

Surely they are all in different price brackets?
the Volvo would be the best car but inpractical?
the Citreon will fall apart and break down as fast as it depreciates
and the astra all though i like the look of them are normal and as such are boring.
so get yourself the astra and a labradore
    Kazza the Tranny
    Now for sale Fatty
  • Personally I'd wait for the new focus, or just buy a focus RS, but i'm liking them all.

    Honda Civic.

    It's all about Honda.

Seriously though, mid sided cars like that, your only real choice is a BMW 120d.

doesnt a bmw 335d work when its cold and wet?

no. they are only good at coming off a round about and over taking a row of 4 cars.

If your 59 the Astra. If your sensible and want to cultivate the sleek fashion look the C30, if your up for a bit of fun and a good laugh, the renault... it will be worthless as soon as you touch it, and will probably break, but its still awsome.

if your a bland, average person, wait for the focus.... although, saying that, it doesn look very nice.. and the sproty ones are awsome
    I like bikes and stuff
  • What? You've driven one? Supposed to be the hot hatches to beat just now. I wouldn't touch a Renault otherwise but the Renaultsport models get great reviews.

Yeah drove the newest Clio 197 or whatever it is. When all is said and done, it's still a Renault and for that reason, I'm not gonna invest.
  • Hmm there's been a new model since that one, The new one is the Clio 200 that you can get with the racier cup chassis.

The Megane 250 looks nice as well.

The Clio Cup giving the Focus RS a run for it's money

  • Citroën ds3 is form over function, looks good, drives shoot, slow, carp.
C30, slow, old focus chassis, no load room, small rear hatch, only 4 seats = shoot
Astra, boring, awkward rear hatch, nice oil burning engines with loads of grunt. Wait 2 years and get an ex fleet for bog all.
Ford focus, as long as you turn the traction control off, excellent
Renault, if you want something with 1970's electrical problems, go ahead.

Fiat Panda - ultimate driving machine
That or a merc e320 cdi estate.
Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.

Pick up a 120i or 120d instead. Far more amusing to play with. Built by people who actually give a damn about cars too.
  • yeah but pick up a second hand 1 series or youll loose money faster than if u just threw it in the air :D

spongtastic: u say the c30 is built on the old focus chassis like thats a bad thing, the old focus was one of the best to drive cars of that size.

upinsmoke: the renaultsport clio cup 200 is giving the focus ST a run for its money, not the 300+ BHP RS.

you wouldnt know im a car geek would ya :)

Which video are you watching?? Thats an RS

    Correct

Anyway, fk dis, I iz off 4 a ride innit. l8rz peepz
  • Haha it's badged like an RS, looks like an RS and the motor journalist refers to it about 10 times as an RS.

I won't bother editing my earlier post ;)
  • oops :S my bad i didnt see the video, (apparently also an idiot :D )

that doesnt make sense surely? (not questioning the video, just puzzled)
the clio has 200bhp and a naturally aspirated engine, so high revs, no turbo lag
focus has 300bhp, and a turbocharged engine, meaning more torque at the expense of turbo lag, and torque steer (thou they fixed that with revoknuckle, some crazy front diff)
that clio obviously only weighs 2/3s of the focus (by logic and power to weight ratios) for it to beat it. so fair cop to renault

and apologies to upinsmoke for my barefaced stupidity :)
  • Well, it's 2 different drivers at the end of the day so maybe if they's swapped cars the RS would have disappeared. Saying that though it did look like the RS driver was giving it some.

Just supposed to be a great handling car. "Car" magazine have it in their Good, Bad and Ugly section as the 911 GT3 of the hot hatch world.

I'd go for the fully equipped non-cup version but spec the cup handling pack as an extra.
  • All about the Buses day saver

  • It's simples.

Fords break alot, found that our recently through a few warrenty companies and the new Honda Type R understears horrible in comparison to the previous one and isn't as quick either. And the only fun hatches now are the Renault cup sports.

Since we are bikers we assume you need to transport bikes. so it has to be the magane 250 cuppy job.. pant wetting drive.
