Problem Importing tcx files to Golden Cheetah

I've just started a powertap rental to see how i get on with it - pairing it with my Garmin Edge 500. At this stage i don't want to shell out for WKO+ and thought i'd try Golden Cheetah (free).

I've done a couple of rides and uploaded them to Garmin Connect, then exported a .tcx file and imported them to Golden Cheetah (windows ver 1.3). However, none of the power data is being transferred and appears as zeros. All other stats seem to be fine.

Anyone else had similar problems?

If you look at the .tcx file in notebook and compare a .tcx from the history folder on you computer with one exported from Garmin Connect you'll see that the power numbers are between tags <ns3:Watts> instead of just <Watts> in the file from Garmin Connect. Older versions of Golden Cheetah didn't cope with this and as you are seeing there would be no power data.

First of I'd recommend you get on of the latest development builds of Golden Cheetah from here. There are lots of great features in the latest builds that aren't in the current official release. The latest builds can also deal with exports from Garmin Connect.

But you don't need to export the .tcx from Connect anyway. The files are stored on your computer (in Windows) in the folder C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data/GARMIN/Devices/Device ID/History'. You can upload the files from here without the phaff of exporting from Connect.
    More problems but still living....
  • Thanks Amaferanga, i downloaded a recent build and this shows the power data. Now all i have to do is make sense of it!

I checked the windows folder you specified but ApplicationData/GARMIN/devices is empty on my computer?
