Is everyone getting themselves a plan sorted for winter training? I'm curious to know how people approach it.
I've got myself an old school bike and am getting winter clothing sorted so i can go out for as long as possible - maybe i'll throw a few gym session in too.
What are you doing?

Riding my bike, much like I do the rest of the year... however there aren't so many races about.Jibbering Sports Stuff: http://jibbering.com/sports/0

I'm intending getting out on weekly club runs and some structured training on the turbo and (if I get a bike for Christmas) the track. I'm in my first year back after a long break and things have been a bit of a mess so far so this winter is my time to get things sorted ready to race next season. I will also be carrying on with my diet with a target of losing another 10kg or so0

Before Jan 1 - commuting daily, about 10 miles each way, and Sunday morning 2 hr ride. All done at good tempo, ride hard up climbs, no particular intervals though. Plus a few cyclo-x races and hill climbs. Plus 1hr circuit training or 5 a side football, once a week, just cos I like doing it.
After Jan 1 - as above but will extend Tuesday and Thursday commutes into harder, hilly 90 minute rides, I have a few different circuits round the area of Sheff where I live with hard hills and decent streetlights. I would also ease right off the pace on the other commutes for a bit of recovery time. Still stick with footy/circuits and a few more cross races.
Dont own a turbo or power meter. Used to have a turbo15 years ago, but it just gathered dust. Not my thing.
Sounds like quite a lot now Im reading it, should be about f00ked after that winter I reckon, but did the same last winter and am happy with what I've done on the road in the summer.0 -
As jibberjim, will be riding my bike most likely. I will race CX up until the end of October, after that I am not sure yet. Will probably need a break from racing to be honest.0

Eat cake till january, shit myself, cram in about 4 months training into february, start the season going like a train, have head fall off by april. Spend the rest of the summer riding to cafe and back.

Mileage does not infer that i'll be battering myself.0 -
I've got a knee op at the beginning of October. Will be out of action for six to eight weeks. So turbo time at first(Hate the turbo) to build a bit of fitness and then back on the road0

I plan on the doing the Ullrich approach.0

I intend to take October off the bike then start winter endurance work from 1st Nov. Am off to Cyprus early Dec for a weeks 'get the miles in' session. Hope to get 1 long ride in per week thru to end of Feb, with intervals starting in Jan - ish....0

I will be commuting to work (45mins each way) doing at least 1 3 hour ride each weekend and weights twice per week to build strength.
I am planning on getting involved with the Hog hill winter league when that starts.0 -
500 miles per week.0

Ergvideo on turbo when roads are icy or it is raining hard.
Ride outside in 1-4 layers of clothing for the rest of the time.
Oh, and buy myself a new front light. Preferably one that confuses planes coming into land at Gatwick.--

I'm currently eating 5 meals a day. Don't care if I put on more weight (currently 10 lbs above racing weight) as it just makes it easier to form muscles given my more then adequate protein intake.
Not sure I agree with his winter training gears though, would rather get in longer rides then mash myself up over shorter distances. But then again, he could probably do the long rides in the mashy gears. I can't. But to get better I'm forcing myself to sit down in the saddle on every hill (not easy in some places around here!).
Currently aiming for 200 miles/week with 2 Turbo sessions on top of it. Distances to increase with fitness to keep training progressive.I climb faster then you.0
