sram rear mech and 7spd xt thumbshifter

I know this has probably been asked a million times before, but could i swap the gripshift on my daughter's bike for my old xt thumbshifter, as she find's it very hard to change gear with the gripshift.

do sram make thumb shifters?
If they do, i can't find them.
She's only 6 and really does struggle with the gripshift's tightness

my son has a carerra blast with 7 speed - the rear mech is an X3, 1:1
Personally I think grip shift will be easier than thumb shift..
but for 16 quid, you might want to try

She has no trouble moving to a higher gear, it's when she moves to a lower one she struggles.
Hopefully it will loosen up a bit over time, you never know.
