no you need a Sram shifter."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

do sram make thumb shifters?
If they do, i can't find them.
She's only 6 and really does struggle with the gripshift's tightness2009 Rockhopper Comp0 -
I don't see any thumb shifters there, trigger/rapidfire yes, but no thumb shifters.
This is the type i mean

sram triggers are thumb shifters.
and link either not working or very slow.
again you need a Sram 1:1 shifter or a shimano rear mech."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

you need an X3 Shifter

and new grips obviously.
my son has a carerra blast with 7 speed - the rear mech is an X3, 1:1
Personally I think grip shift will be easier than thumb shift..
but for 16 quid, you might want to try0 -
Cheers guys.
She has no trouble moving to a higher gear, it's when she moves to a lower one she struggles.
Hopefully it will loosen up a bit over time, you never know.2009 Rockhopper Comp0 -
Lubing the shifter, mech and cable with a good teflon lube will help.
at the end of the day either her wrist gets stronger or her calf muscles will0 -
lol, i how her wrist doesn't get as strong as her old man's
Will lube it up, that's a good idea :idea:2009 Rockhopper Comp0 -
Don't XT thumbies have a friction switch?I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
