Quick update with the latest pic:
Upgrades / changes:
Rockshox Reverb Seatpost
Shimano XT PD-M785 Trail SPD Pedals
Superstar AM-490 rims with Superstar EVO hubs & silver spokes - the mud tyres will stay on these and the summer tyres will stay on the black Alex FR30's.

A few more updates over the last few months:
1. XT SPD's replaced with Carbon Cycles flats (same as Superstars but a couple of quid cheaper - thanks Supersonic)
2. Standard SLX bash guard replaced with Blackspire C4 Ring God in white
3. Mucky Nutz Bender Fender 2.1 in white to replace RRP Neoguard
4. Rockshox Monarch RT3 in white to replace the standard Giant own-brand rear shock
5. Maxxis Crossmark with EXO sidewalls to replace the (paper-thin) Kenda Slant Six (that the Cumberland Clough descent ripped a 10p piece sized hole in) as a rear summer tyre
6. KCNC jockey wheels to replace the standard SLX ones that had turned into Chinese Throwing Stars
Someone asked me the other day if anything on the bike was the same as when I bought it - I had to rack my brains and the only things that I can think of are:
1. The frame - but that's the same as fitted to all aluminium Trance X's from X4 to X1
2. The brakes (discs changed though)
3. The saddle

Question: What happened after the first 12 months regarding the C2W scheme? what were your options?
Thanks0 -

Thanks
I'm quite lucky in that:
1. My company didn't use an outside administered scheme, I just told them how it worked and they agreed - I even drew up the "contract" for myself and them to sign. Although they never signed it.....
2. Our FD is not "detail oriented"
They took one too many monthly payments, so I proposed that they consider this to be the final payment and they agreed. So it became all mine - lucky that, considering all of the changes I'd made0 -
Well lucky fella!0

Made a few changes since the last post, so I thought I'd update:
1. Rockshox Revelation RLTs, spaced down to 140mm, in place of Sektor RL U-turns. For the last 12 months I've been running the Sektors at 140mm all of the time as this seems to be the perfect balance for climbing & descending. So I've saved a bit of weight (0.4Kg) and swapped to air-sprung from coil. I'm really pleased with the feel of them, they react much better to small bumps, making a much smoother ride across and uphill, and I can't notice any difference on bigger hits when descending.
2. I've gradually noticed the rear brake getting worse and at the end of yesterday's ride in the Peaks the lever was almost at the bars (despite a recent change of pads), so I bled the brakes today and whilst doing it I finally got around to fitting the white brake hoses (from Superstar Components). Used an Epic bleed kit and it was very straightforward, haven't had a chance to use them but both levers feels really solid and with much less travel.
3. Peaty lock-on grips to replace the Superstar ones that were virtually worn flat - hopefully the Peatys will give my poor, baby-soft, hands a bit more cushioning
Weight now = 31.3lbs
Here it is in winter mode with mud tyres fitted (summer/dry tyres are on the black, Alex Rims, wheel set):

Finished the change to 2 x 10 today, so here's a few pics:
Looking forward to hearing the difference that the SLX Shadow + rear mech makes on Tuesday's night ride with Richie630 -

I would rather buy (as you've done) a cheap(er) bike and upgrade it than buying a better-specced bike in the first place

You out again soon? I went out in the snow yesterday for a play on my new toy, loved it! Did you ever get my pm about the club btw? The site was acting up at the time and only just remembered about it when I saw this thread.
Cheers!!
Yes, just trying to decide where to go for the night-ride tomorrow. Macc Forest is fozen solid and my car wouldn't get back up over Winnat's Pass on Saturday afternoon, so wary (with the extra snow today) about venturing too far into the Peaks at night.
We (Richie63) were out on Saturday in the snow - up the broken road past Mam Tor then down around Pindale. Great fun and sometimes it was more of an adventure than a bike ride.
Yes, sent in an application form to them but have only had the automated reply so far - they must be on holiday!!0 -

I've already got a new Giant Reign - in the process of re-building it with lots of bits from the Trance (and lots of stuff from the Reign went onto the Trance).
Cranks and MRP 2X chain device are now on, cut down the steerer on the new Pikes and fitted them last night. Brakes, gears and Reverb to do tonight ready for (hopefully) the first ride tomorrow night.
