We hit a pothole together, I stayed on but he fell off.

I went back to see what I could do but the following car had run right over him.

Contact Garmin Europe by phone or email - I got my broken out-of-warranty Garmin Edge 305 replaced with a refurbished unit for £67. Better than paying £150+ for a new one.

    Cheers,
    JB

I crashed last weekend. A drunk guy on a bike pulled out from the pavement between 2 cars and I went straight into him. It wasn't until I got a couple of roads from home that I realised my headbadge had fallen off. Luckily in my case no cars had run it over when I went back to collect it and I just glued it back on the next day.

After I lay him to rest (in the peddle bin in my kitchen) I think about it.

    You lucky, lucky b******!!!!!

I suppose time (and some new shiny bike accessory) will be a great healer.

I think we'd all agree that this is a tragic loss. But people can still have a sense of humour about other things. Jeez...
  • Agree, but maybe not the same day as the post I refer to

As above, contact Garmin support; they're a freephone number on their website and based in Southampton.

Send it to them, and they have a turn around of sending you a new refurb within 10 days maximum. My 305 FR cost £50.40 to get replaced. I was well chuffed - new non-eroded loud speaker too!

Steve, I take on board your comments and my thoughts go out to all her family and friends as this is a very sad loss, however I ride to keep fit and take part in sportives, I have no interest in amateur racing and as such never read that section of the forum where the original message was posted so how was I supposed to know?
  • OK, hence why I then posted the thread link

Aah that happened to my mates cateye once. It was my fault - I asked him how far we'd gone and he clicked the display - turns out it wasnt locked on properly - it flicked off and into the road.

By the time we'd gone back - 2 cars had gone over it - then the 3rd one crushed it.
There were digits all over the place,,,, :(:(

In view of the tragedies read about on this forum, the title of this thread reflects both poor taste and judgement.

    No it doesn't.

Everyone here in our community feels the deepest of sympathy for others' loss. I honestly don't know why you would think any different. There is a whole lot of tragedy happening everywhere in the world every second of the day. Sad but true. And we all wish that were not the case. But it is.

Respect due to our friends and their families.

    As we were.

    +1.

It should be re-titled by the OP or removed by the mods.

Just keep bumping it back to the top then. That should help.

-1. Because displays of faux empathy like those on this thread make me want to vomit.

Unlike myself who classed Cath as a friend - a member of my club and a lady that I competed with on a regular basis. When I read the title my first thought was - oh no, not another one. It SHOULD be re-titled or removed because, in light of the accident it is sick.

It's only a sick joke if it was done with the knowledge of or the intention of being linked to the accident.

Otherwise its just a bit of unfortunate timing. Yes a horrible thing has happened, but it's something that does happen and we can't expect everyone to be aware of and restrict what they say and do everytime something like this happens.

On the other hand, if it was done with the knowledge of the accident then it should really be changed.

    Correct.

Have to agree with Ollieda, the timing was unfortunate and attacking the op is mis-guided.
