Don't you need a debit card to pay online? I'm pretty sure you can't get one of those when you're 14, but I may be wrong...
You can get a current account, but it will come with a cash card only good for ATM withdrawals.

I think I set my account up when I was 14ish, they came to our school (HSBC) with forms for us to fill out, could only use the card at a machine though if I remember correctly.0

Yes you can.
If you want a debit card your parents will need to give permission, and of course, you'll not be able to haveoverdrafts or anything like that.
HSBC would get my vote (I did a load of work for them when they set up the Island Accounts with internet banking and they were really good).0 -

lloyds give you...Choice of a:
- Lloyds TSB Visa debit card which you can use to pay for things in shops, on the internet, or to access your money at ATMs,
- or a Cashpoint® card for accessing your money at ATMs.0 -

Yes, but the anonymous nature of t'interweb means I can say childish things without any of my subordinates being any the wiser.
By day I'm a straight laced professional Platoon Commander, by night I'm a juvenile Crudite posting about ATMs...0 -

what kind of premission? just sign here, here and here sort of thing?0 -
An overdraft is like free money for beer and bkes (student money management).0

Jay if I were you I'd go for that under 19's Lloyds, go into your nearest branch though and apply.
Ca be used for online purchases, ATM withdrawls and paying at a chip and pin thing in shops. Only thing you can't do is internet banking, which you can when you're 16 I'm sure it unlocks, but you can still buy things online just not get statements etc, they come through the post monthly or so.0 -

Nah, I'm sure I had one before I was 16, it's worth a try just go into your local Lloyds branch and ask.0

If you can get any hsbc account do it, gnatwest have this nickname for a reason.
Don't use credit or an overdraft, it's not free money, if you can't repay what you owe, it's like somebody buying you a bike and you having to buy 2 in return.Visit Clacton during the School holidays - it's like a never ending freak show.
Who are you calling inbred?0 -
If you save enough pocket money you could get one of these accounts.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
