Giant Rapid 3 or Sirrus Sport? Dilemma!

i will probably go for the Sirrus. It was my main choice anyway, and the free gold secure lock & lights cinched it for me. And i will be probably buy a Sectuer Elite some time in the new year. As i want a dropbar bike with a more relaxed riding position
people might say its a very close match between the rapid and the sirrus. not much between spec & looks & weight.
Its just my butt likes Body Geometry and so do my hands. The grips & bar ends of the Sirrus are VERY comfy over long distance.
(i had them on my MTB)0 -
Yes I agree that does seem like a good deal, I googled the lock and lights. Could get both fot £50. So that is a real good offer. I just need someone to give me a kick in the pants to make a choice!! Will scour the net once more, for reviews and comments then bite the bullet.
Cheers

actually - after much pondering, and trying to determine how much time i will be riding to work. then how much time i will be riding my bike for fun. I have thrown caution to the wind.
tomorrow i will be buying
1 Specialized Secteur
1 Crud Road Racer Mudguard set
1 NiteRider UltraFazer 5.0 Combo
1 Garmin Dakota 20 & Handlebar mount
If i really like the Secteur, i will buy the 2011 Elite sometime in the new year and sell the other one on.0 -
Nice, am sure you will be happy with that little lot! Think I might go for the rapid 2 as from a geometrical stand point.....the missus likes the colours....and she is paying for it!! So that is that!0

I'm clearly biased but I'd go for the Rapid. It's a £695 bike and the quality of the frame means it'll be worth keeping and upgrading. The components are also a cut above those on the Sirrus to begin with.Rules are for fools.0 -
Just trying to order a Rapid 2 from Cycle Surgery now. The website said no mediums available so I phoned up. Guy said they had plenty in stock......order would not go through, so he is going to call me back
Got butterflies!!0 -
Right, based on Waddlie's recommendation and the price drop, I went for the Rapid 2 and managed to get the last M/L frame sized one in the country from Cycle surgery!
Trekked early on Saturday to make sure this baby was mine!
Check it:
Many thanks to all of you who responded to this thread, and I hope it continues as people decide on what bike to get. I would have gone for the Rapid 1 at the discounted price, but they didnt have any in my frame size in stock!
Great bike, great ride, got one minor issue, but I'll post that in another thread so as to get a bigger specific response.
Waddlie, thanks mate, I owe you a pint![/img]0 -

 well i've spent the last month looking at bikes. and the last 24 hours thinking about the Secteur.
And seeing as how my wages didn't go in the bank today, i guess i have another 24 hours to wait before i can spend my money
i'm gutted.
well done on your bike, it does look rather nice.
here's to many hundreds of miles of happiness0 -

Yes Mister Giant,
Mr Waddlie has been a tireless ambassador for your company. He has been responsible for many of your bike sales through the years. I find it only fair that this selfless work is recorded accordingly. So a nice pair of really tight lycra shorts for Mr Waddlie. Oh and the top bike from across your range for lickle me, as begging letters don't write themselves you know.
I await your response.0 -

Bike's ordered. Evans tell 1 week or less before I can collect... Grrrrrr I'm going to feel like Jack Bauer until I get it0 -
Cool , glad you got it sorted, happy cycling.
Still no reply from Giant ref my freebies....wonder if they use this forum?0 -
upgrading from a Giant FCR3 to a Giant Rapid2 myself. Getting it this weekend and cannot wait. I'm well jealous of all you guys that have got yours already.
Hopefully it'll be even faster than the old one, I shall just be a blue and white streak down the OKRFCN 8/9 (I think)0 -
Sitrep:
picked up my Secteur this afternoon. And despite it being red hot outside & chucking it down at the same time. I rode it home 7 miles, and man was i in heaven.
This is so much more comfortable than that crap Revolution Cross i bought last month (that i had all of 7 days)
That thing; had my wrists, legs, tesicles, neck & fingers in agony.
So i was laying a whole lot of faith on the Secteurs magazine review of it being a more relaxed geometry.
I am so happy with it, it will be doing the c2c in one day next month
The Bad News
I also bought the Crud Road Racer mudguards to go on this. But try as i might to adjust it. It wont stop rubbing against the front wheel in front of the brake mount.
And the rear guard rubs against the tyre where the arms meet the mudguard.
So they have been left off.
first decent day i get i'm doing a tonne on it for practice0 -
Glad you guys are happy campers/cyclists!!! Still waiting for my Rapid 2 to turn up!!! They said 3-4 days.....Now it will be here by Friday....so they say....0

Nice bike :-)
I managed to get one of the last Rapid 3's in L. The local giant shop said they couldn't get any, but one I went to a local shop they made a few calls and got one within a week. I had previously tried a Rapid 2, and I will admit it isn't as smooth. A little bit slippery in wet conditions, but any more rain and I will change the tyres.0
