I'm not sure what to do with my current bike collection, I have a Ribble TT which I built with a view to doing a few TT rides but to be honest that's looking pretty unlikely, it must have only done 100 road miles in the year or so since I finished the build, I had it stuck on the turbo last year whilst recovering from a knee problem since then it's done very little.

Then there's the old steel single speed which as it turns out is a custom build rather than a plain old Raleigh 531, currently in bits stripped and ready to be resprayed, to be honest why? I already have five other perfectly good working bikes.

So do I sell both as is and perhaps buy a carbon race bike?
Rebuild the old steel and sell?
Turn the TT into a FGSS sell/ride?
Leaving them as is gathering dust and doing no one any good?

Seems a shame to have two perfectly good bikes doing nothing at all, don't you think...?

I always have these sort of thoughts about spare bikes I have in addition to what's in my sig, then I think, nah, I'm keeping them

I keep thinking about building another shed/buying a garage to house the ever increasing collection of bikes...

I managed to give one of my bikes away recently (it took me several years though!).

It's gone to a good home which I'm happy about, but I still half regret doing it. Too expensive to do up and I had no space.

Yeh I know and with the Alps looming I need to make that call v soon, so many time has the credit card been out only to be put away because of lack of space, the garage is now to full to work in and the conservatory is heading that way. Not good!!!

Crumbs I didn't realise the choice was between that and the rusty steel thing with no gears.

Given your <ahem> friend, is it wise to be buying a bike with Ventos? They are notorious for being an absolute **** to get tyres on (I speak from experience from helping a colleague). I'm seeing a lonely wet dark road in Wiltshire, and a man with no finger nails sat sobbing by the side of the road. Mind you, you might have thumbs of iron by now.

@IP - are you getting a cut or something? Obviously I need to get in with them a bit more.

    <sigh> It's not difficult, really...

Bikes are like women. In the jurisdiction that you reside in, you need no more than two. One to ride during the week, and one to ride at the weekends.

In addition, you can have one to ride in a foreign part that you visit regularly.

    Simples!
Swim. Bike. Run. Yeah. That's what I used to do.

Maybe I am sappy, but every bike for me is nostalgic..e.g. I still keep a £200 MTB I bought from Halfords as it was my first commuter, just because of that.

Selling one would be like selling an organ

The Felt is such a steal. The Ribble's a bargain, but its still Ribble...

If you don't buy the Felt, you must live with that decision... it could drive you over the edge

OT: Could you help me out with a quick query: what size seat post, seat clamp and what spec of headset does the white Ribble TT take? As I'm looking to see if I can put one together out of the spares box on a minimal budget

Truth is I could store them but why when someone else could actually use them, I have enough parts to make bike 9 that's not good.

So the ribble has a standard 27.2 seat post, not sure about the clamp as it came fitted, this is the full spec
