Erm, not that I wish to be critical or anything, but you may have forgotten to fit a chain...

But, apart from that, I'm very impressed, nice clean lines. Should be awesome on the commute.

LOL... got a deore chain when I purchased the cassette from Merlin... :)

Yep, hopfully she will be, Im guessing the weight (due to heavier Deore Groupo) shall be approx 25lb. The CAAD frame is very light, it's the rest thats letting it down..

    Great looking thing- Top work!
  • Some more shots.

Firstly the 3€ cable router that with shipping cost me 18€!!! As its an older frame it was a special order part from Germany, I also am not the 'ghetto fix' sort of person as it's nice to have the right part. At least now I can index.

The Wellgo B54s of the Cotic have now been put on this, I originally purchased some V12 mags for this (Wellgo) but they were so nice I put them on the Cotic. I know they look massive but hey, I have massive feet.

Some more obligatory frame shots, clean lines and I love the way it's turned out.

As I dont like the blue cables, I have ordered another set in black, along with the same gear cables (Just bog-standard Clarks jobbies)

    Et Voila - she's done!
  • I really like this, I quite fancy something similar for a commuter and for those winter rides when you really cba going off road. Good find!
  • Yep, am happy with it too. Great condition (with the exception if some useage marks - spotless) and I have kepot it simple and cheap.

I have worked out that now, all in, this has cost me £380. An equivalent today would brobely be about £600/£700 (with Dales you always pay for the frame, the components are pretty standard on sub £1000 commuters/hybrids) so not too bad.

Look on Retrobike, as frames and forks like this (I think V-brake is the way for reliability and cheapness on a commuter) crop up all the tim sub £100.

The rest can be picked up cheap, I mean the wheelset on this was £63 !!!
  • Must say i love your bikes :D
