Righto, pics to follow on this one as I have not picked it up yet....
2002 Cannondale M800 CAAD frame a 'Good Girl' womens geometry but nice and light and a really top frame - chinky oversize tubing, perfect codition with matching Fatty forks.. Baby Blue
Was the contemporary of the "Bad Boy" and as such is VERY similar.... apart from the colour
Have ordered a shedload of parts for this, cheap but functional. Running Vs to keep cost down and to be honest, as it's going to be used as a roadbike/training bike this is beneficial for running costs.
Size Medium (17" - or whatever a 'Dal M equates to) - shorter TT as its a womans, but not tiny, have opted for a 110mm stem to compensate for this.
Easton EA50 stem
Easton EA30 bars and seatpost
Cannondale saddle
Deore shifters, and mechs, cassette and chain (with powerlink)
Shimano M442 Square taper chainset
Shimano UN26 ST \BB
Clarks blue gear and brake cables
Cannondale grips
Deore hubs on Mach MX 1 rims
Dia Compe V brakes and Levers (MX-2 - red)
Schwalbe Kojak tyres (1.3" wired bead)
It looks virtually brand new, tiny mark where bars caught top tube, but apart from that (and it's just a little scratch) you'd swear it was new.... it's been hardly riden over the last 8 years and has had an easy life in my mates spare room.
And it's a USA made frame as well
Not bad for £50 (off a mate) - plus it owes me about £250 for parts just bought

Rick Draper... why what?
Why would I want another bike? :?0 -
Surely the Marin would have been a ideal training bike?0

Yep, I see what you mean, but I dont want to be beasting a bike on the road/training that's worth that much and is an XC race bike, not a road bike - it officially is the most exensive thing I own (apart from the house). When this appeared/was offered I just thought why not?
Its horses for coursesm the Marin has been on a lot more XC adventures recently, and am extremely happy with it... but it's wasted on road riding...
Ignoring all the silly comments that get made about me 'not riding' my bikes, I actually do, and now use them for their fit purpose...
I think (as a city bike/hybrid) this is perfect. I cannot see in what way (apart from the TT length which is not THAT short) how it's different to a mans, its no different from my 'Dale BoTE' that I had....0 -

LOL - like the inevitable, I was wondering how long it would take to post something pithy.
And to be honest, really couldnt give a toss if people think I ride them or not....0 -

Update:
Parts turning up today *hopefully*
Deore hubs on Mach 1 MX rims with black spokes
Deore Square Taper Chainset
Cannondale grips
EA50 stem
EA30 seatpost (EA30 bars turned up already)
Schwalbe Kojak 1.3" RaceGuard (wire bead)
And some other bitts.
Pick the frame up tonight!!!! Will need a total stripdown to frame only, which shall get a thorough clean and polish then 'new' rolling chassis shall be built.
THe shifters and mechs shall be stripped and cleaned and re-used (no point wasting monies) but new brakes are on their way, have now decided on Avid Single Digit 7s to keep costs down.
All the rest I have apart from cassette/chain.
The only things 'original' that shall stay are the mechs and shifters (Deore) - the rest is new.
This will be fully operational within 2 weeks..
Before and after pics coming!!0 -
There's not enough banter in this thread, come on people - it's a girl's hybrid bike! He should be getting more of a ribbing then when my dad thought it would be cool to buy me satchel for my first day of secondary school!
Actually quite fancy one of these myself, I like the bad boy, but don't like the matte black - could be cool in a bright colour!Santa Cruz Chameleon

very nice and good tip on the wheels, looking for some for my build0
-
Cockpit sorted (new (2nd hand) shifters and brakes (SD7) fitted along with 'dale grips.
Just need to order BB cable router, cassette and chain and pedals then shes done.
So far owese me about £350 (including frame and forks) for the whole bike, which is slightly more than I wanted to spend but such a nice frame, deserved better than rat bike material.

thats a really good looking build, i love hardtails.0

Lovely work - but IMVHO I think a contrasting brake cable colour would have been better. The blue cables do not co-ordinate the frame colour.
