Electrolyte powder

I don't bother with any sort of energy drink, but I need electrolytes powder/tablets in my bottles I take with me on the bike, otherwise I cramp up real bad after a few hours and/or after the ride.

I've been using High5 tablets, but does any one sell powder in a bit more bulk and so a bit cheaper? All I can see from the likes of Zipvit is powder to make energy drinks, which is not what I want.

I DO NOT WANT the energy stuff though, just electrolytes.

Anyway Myprotein has what I want:

    Nuun tablets?

To be honest I wanted cheaper than what I was already getting, nuun tablets are more expensive.

The bags of electrolyte from myprotein is just the job.

Don't put too much of that electrolyte stuff from My Protein into your drink though, otherwise it tastes like your're drinking sea water... As it's powder it's more difficult to judge quantities

    I've looked into this recently

The cheapest thing I found was the bulk powder from myprotein

I opted for the Hammer Nutrition stuff instead however, it has stuff in it to counter act the salty taste

Blog article about electrolyte drinks here

If you want real super cheap then mixing table salt (sodium Chloride) with Lo Salt (Potassium chloride) gives you the two main electrolytes (no magnesium or calcium)

How have you found the Hammer Nutrition stuff? I have read quite a few of their articles debunking lots of myths re nutrition and like their attitude. Does the stuff taste good/work well?

Sea salt instead of the table salt?

I've used the "Endurolyte" electrolyte capsules, the "Anti Fatigue Caps" and the Endurolyte powder for mixing.
If the need arose I'd certainly consider using their other stuff. But for audax riding, what I'm using at the moment seems to work good.

My article here has a bit more about the Hammer Nutrition Anti Fatigue Caps.

Like all these sports nutrition companies they seem a bit over keen on protein and make some extrapolated claims that seem to go beyond accepted evidence to "prove" their stuff works. To me the proof is in the using. Yes, I am aware of the Placebo effect :)
