Just taken stock of a 2004 (minto condition) Cannondale 'Good Girl' Caad (USA made in sky blue)... its a womans bike... (ahem) but the geo is great for me..... plus I got an awesome deal on it... (virtually nothing)

Its a hybrid/city bike (same as the 'Dale 'badboy') and has slicks, but with a heterosexual flat bar and v-brakes...

About as 'roadie' as Im ever going to get.... :)

Is going to be used as a commute/road/training ride.....

You're probably not the only one  My twice weekly commute is pretty much guaranteed to happen so that's 50 miles a week min on the hybrid. When you live in the 'burbs like me, MTB'ing involves driving some way out of town unless it's a quick blast round the local woods & park :(

You imply that drop bars are gay, yet ride a womans bike?

Got a Giant OCR which was bought to train for a 1/2 marathon - it's been hanging in the garage ever since.

I just didn't click with road cycling - I'd rather take the Anthem and mix up xc and roads.

yes, had one a few months, mainly for my 13 mile commute which just wasn't any fun at all on the mtb. love the way they just eat the miles fairly effortlessly. did 5 hours riding yesterday incorporating the london to southend, clocked up 65 miles and my legs feel pretty fresh today. always baggies though, also love overtaking proper roadies in team kit looking like a mtber.

off to the alps saturday morning with the kona for a week making myself feel like a proper man again!

Baggies slow you down so much! Go lycra, you know you want to

Tried one at bikeradar live (Eddy Merckx), after 10 minutes of riding I was getting pains in between my thumb and first finger, from using the drop bar, but apart from that is was pretty fun being able to go so fast - although scary as the brakes are rubbish! Can't see me parting with any cash for one.

But I can almost see the point in hybrids - road bike speed, MTB brakes, flat bars and proper shifters could be a winning combination.

My best bike/ race bike is a scott addict r2
    http://www.flickr.com/photos/hells85/4666048774/

I also have a trek 1.7 which was my first road bike and now takes care of turbo trainer and roller duties. It may be my bad weather bike aswell but it's white and constantly looks dirty and I have a feeling my scott will be taken out in all weathers.

I also have a kona jake the snake for commuting duties and riding in epping forest. Vey excited now the UCI has ok'd disc brakes for cx. Roastie on the commuting forum is creating my ultimate commuter/tourer/cx bike but it's still prototype and I don't know when he is going to go commerical. It's ti framed with discs, alfine and rear rack and guard mounts.

I have not ridden my mtb in ages due to living in London. Epping is complete shit on an MTB but ok on a cx. I am going home to bristol for a week soon so expect to be falling off alot in wales and bristol soon.

I wear full lycra on and off road I'm a girl and I'm in good shape so I can rock that look :-p. Anyway men who wear full lycra and are in good shape are hot! I went on a club run where I was the only woman recently it was if I had died and went to heaven! All those big muscular legs, pert bums in lycra on display mmmmmm. I think I may have a problem....

But mostly used on the Turbo trainer, but will be used on the road when the nights start to draw in again.

You know I have that roadie commutery bike Stu. I believe many parts of it were donated by yourself! :D

This one time, as I was biking into Scallifax behind a guy all lycra'd up, we reached a very steep hill. You know the type. Has a handrail for old people, you wang it in the lowest ratio and you still have to stand up.

He thought he could do it on the big ring I think.

He stood up, in what must have been slightly too small lycra.

His bike basically stopped and as I was straight behind him, I saw what no man was meant to see

Don't kid yourself that hybrids are as fast as road bikes. They are not the best of both worlds, they are the worst of both

Mine's a flat bar road bike - the rest is the same. My friend had a hybrid to commute on and hated it after he tried, well, anything else.

    Can't bear drop bars.
