Tendinitis or what?

Has anyone suffered from Tendinitis before? What exactly does it feel like, throughout last night, and into the morning, when I try and pull my foot backwards (where your leg is layed out and you pull your foot back, towards you), it feels tight, then when I release, there seems to be abit of pain feeling.

I'm hoping I've only sprained it cause I don't want to be getting tendinitis and having to quite cycling for months.

I found this rather ugly looking foot on goggle but I've drawn lines into the areas where I'm getting slight irritation.

Hopefully someone might have had something similar and could shed some light.

I think you have elephantitis of the foot and would do well do seek urgent medical advice or call NHS direct immediatley

Trust me a close family friend died from this hideous disease.

A GP will probably take one look and refer you to physio who will say RICE it and then do some gentle stretches when the acute phase is passed and stay off it for a few weeks and do other exercise that don't rely on your feet.

I had achilles tendonitis once and that was painful. I was flexing my foot up and down one morning, I put it gently in the down position and it didn't come back up again. It was like the clutch had gone. I was told to do the above. I didn't go to a GP, went straight to a sports physio who gave me an at home routine as I didn't have much money.

But then I'm neither a GP nor a physio so the above shouldn't be construed as medical advice in any way, shape or form.

    Thanks.

Although my Achilles seems fine, no pain near that, that is if it's the one that connects to the calf muscle at the back?

The pain is slightly dieing down after a nap, but if it worsens I'll go see a doctor, I remembered I had a clipless fall onto this side and hoping that may have caused it.

drewfromrisca, I expect you to go to every single post about knee problems and others things like this and post the same sarcy crap useless comment, but no, you won't, so p155 off. That might sound harsh but I half expected a comment like that just because it was me posting, everyone else gets advice on threads that are reasonable like this and I'm no freaking different.

Well no, obviously that scrubbed out bit is nowhere near the Achilles (heel to calf) but the principle should be the same. If you've done damage, youv'e got to wait til the inflammation is sorted.

Quite right, if the pain comes back when you use it again go and see someone. They'll be terribly implressed if you say you've been icing it. You know what the RICE thing is don't you.

I don't know what RICE is off by heart, although I did come across it on the internets earlier, I know R stands for rest :p

Last time I was riding, I had no point, this pain that stiffened by foot up has came since I've just being walking around, doing not much at all, recovering really.

Ooh, you might have gone over on it, tripped on something, walked on uneven ground maybe. Either way, if you feel pain then it's prob damaged and inflammed. Hopefully if you can't remember doing it, it's only minor so it shouldn't take long to get right again, so
    :
    Rest it
Ice it - gently, get some ice cubes/bag of frozen peas, wrap them well in a tea towel and ice gently for 10 mins, then 15mins off, 10 mins on 15 off, etc.
Compress it - get one of those ribbed bandages, tight but if your toes go blue you've gone too far
Elevate it - put your feet up while you rest it.

and go and see somone if it's not working (either the treatment or the foot).

EDIT - just saw the bit about the clipless fall on that side..... may well be the culprit. If it's had a bang it might well be bruised.

Previous disclaimer still very much applies. :!:

It does come across as harsh.
as i would say rest the limb, ice and raise it wait for a few days and if the pain is not easing then make an appointment to see a doc. 28 bones and way more tendons in the foot (ty mr google  ) and you are asking people whats wrong with you from a vague scribble and it hurts when i move it down. be realistic in what you are wanting from people. Look at most of the i have a random pain posts and you will see post saying go see a doc.

Yea will that is harsh and I was actually trying to give you a bit of advice about a 'MEDICAL' problem!!!

As you see I don't go on every single post about knee problems (I thought it was your ankle anyway) and say go to the doctor. In fact in the past I have asked questions on here about injuries etc AFTER I've seen a doctor/physio etc.

If you don't want advice from people don't post on a public forum.

Sometime you really need to get your head from up your own ar$e and realise that your occasionaly a muppet!
