Road Rallying, as it wuz 30 odd years ago when arr wurr still sayin eee when arr wurr a lad.

Proper road racing, usually done out in the back & beyond [Wales anyone?] in MkII Escorts with assorted lightweight plastic panels, proper engines with more carburettors than Ford really expected an Escort to have, no interior trim and quite blatantly fitted-as-an-afterthought external lights on the passenger door to allow the usually dandy young fillies from the local car clubs who were press-ganged into marshalling on these events to be able to see what [and sometimes who] they were doing at a time control in the middle of nowhere at 20 past 3 on a Sunday morning.

Most of the competitors were chaps of a certain age who obviously drove better after consuming the contents of their hip flasks soon after the start.

Let's bring it back - loosely controlled motorsport on the public roads, ccommitted by entusiastic amateurs in somewhat bonkers cars. Happy days.

Here's one, massive one. Bring back Alan Freeman and his Saturday Afternoon Rock Show that ran from 1973 to 1978 on Saturday afternoons on Radio 1 - Radio 1 VHF mind you, not just the medium wave on 247. Magnificent, bombastic, exciting. Bring it back.

Granted the old lad's been dead a few years now, but it's no dafter than most of the other suggestions.

Never did hear it all the way through, what with being out playing football and then doing the paper round before getting home in time for the football results at 20 to 5. That's when all football matches used to finish, just after 4:40. So let's also bring back 10 minutes half time and no added time unless and only unless a player has had to leave the pitch after some treatment, preferably for a bone sticking out of the flesh type injury, not some namby-pamby nudged over so fell to the floor clutching the wrong part of the body for a minute or so. Grrrr. Bunch of pansies nowadays.

    :)
