+1 We can't possibly know. (goes off to refill squirty buttonhole flower and mix wallpaper paste to put down colleagues' trousers)

I had my gall-bladder removed via uncomplicated laparoscopic surgery, so only had 2 tiny incisions, and was back on the bike in a week.
My credit card suffered more lasting trauma; it had appearently been online gambling to the tune of $500 while I was anaesthatised!

Happy ending though; both my credit card company and the online gambling site refunded me the money!

And I can eat just about anything now without digestive discomfort!

Any weight weenies out there know how much a gall-bladder full of gallstones weighs?
  • Hi,
Gallbaldder problems ! Yes had mine out 26th April this year, been mis-diagnosed for 15 years as a Liver problem. I'll stop now on the medical history before it gets dull BUT, a gurantee that you will be a better rider because the jaundice caused by the gallstones destroys your red blood cells. So as explained to me by the Docs, the red blood cells transport oxygen to your muscles and waste products away from your muscles. Which if you've been having problems with your Gallbladder and now removed, you will ride faster with less effort, feel stronger, recover quicker, be able to breath better, even your food will probably taste better. Its not superhuman strengths that you've inherited its just that you've become used to the toxins in your body that were not getting processed as they should be.
I had 2 weeks off as per the Docs instructions, then got back on the bike - didnt go to the gym incase of straining/ripping internals - . Back racing 4 weeks after operation and getting top 3 place against 1st Cat & Elite riders after 6 weeks. Ive lost 8-10lb and Im going faster each week. Totally amazed at the difference and can not believe how Ive struggled over the years. Hope this helps ? A Gall bladder is smaller than an egg yoke so no great savings in weight, but problems with it can give you Liver and Pancreas problems, both of which you need to live !!!! Good luck.

Sounds like I got off lightly then! I'm no faster without mine, but I can now eat fish and chips followed by port and stilton without any adverse effects.
