a Scott Endorphin
anything else with elevated chainstays is not worth mentioning."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

A bike?0

Proflex - Animal/Beast! with a girvin fork or flex stem!0

it is a bike, yes, but not a Scott endorphin or a proflex.
think american, steel, big mud clearence, very popular so far as i know and they no longer make bikes, but do still have a bike conection.
and this one will give it away... it was part of a 3 bike range, each with the same frame design and a diferent frame material. The brand could be connected with Greg Minnar, or not....I like bikes and stuff0 -

Not a kirk is it?0

no! thought you would have got it by now... OK, some more clues:
Biopace rings, DX rear mech, deore thumb shifters, Manitou rigid fork, masses of mud room, steel frame, there were Ti, Alu and Cromoly verisions, i have the cromoly one.
Made in the US, and it won a few XC races in its day, i do belive.
OK, and finally it has a curved seatpost.
it was around in about 91-92 i beliveI like bikes and stuff0 -

A Cromega??
Always wanted one of those, particularly the Ti one, which was apparently so flexy, the chain would come off every time you put the power down as it bent the chainstays so much...0 -

yep, its an Alpinestars CroMega DX with mostly original spec, in pretty good nick for the bargain price of..... £30!!!!I like bikes and stuff0 -
also known as many other bikes.
I think i have seen at least two other brands using that frame just in this town."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

hmm, sounds like you have bought 30 quids worth of bike.0
-
Whoopee! You just saved a BSO from a trip to the recycling centre...
You savior0 -
hmm, it looks like you bought 30 quids worth of bike too, that is webbo in the utter extreme0

Not got a cracked frame where the chainstays meet the seattube? That was the final nail in the coffin of most of the frames, maybe just the alu ones.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
-
IM sorry but you are all on crack! the cromega is a great, classic bike that was very popular and desirable in the day (aparently), and is by no means a BSO. The deore thumb shifters alone are worth about £20 on ebay....
anyway, the point is, i like it, i think its a cool bike, i think its a classic and i am smart enough to know its not a £30 BSO.
the Alu version (which was very light, but prone to breaking) was an MBUK superbike in 1994I like bikes and stuff0 -
i had the nickel plated true temper tubed alpinestars bike. it had full xt. a pair of 117 sup ceramic rims. i cut the sti pods from the xt servo wave levers and stuck some xt thumbies on. panaracer smoke/dart tyres and a pair of manitou 3,s. possibly the best looking bike ive ever owned.Viner Salviati

Excellent....
You should now make it your mission to find some anodised purple Speed Sticks, white Onza Porcs and a Flexstem to complete the retro look.
It'll ride like cack obviously, but that's hardly the point!0
