    Mmmmm Texan bars...

    Mmmmmmmmmm United bars...

Toffo's but not the fruit flavoured ones.

    Pacers & Spangles too.

Mouse...strawberry flavoured chemical laden dire desertness!

Smiths crisps with the little blue salt bag in them.

    Bazooka Joe bubble gum.

    Cabanna bars, coconut, chocolate things.

"king size" Mars bars...Freehub would've loved those bad boys!

    Quattro fizzy pop...banned apparently.

Original Tour de France theme ( not strictly speaking "food" but liked it as a kid, listening to new version as I type, its on telly at mo!)

Mr Freeze ice pops...foot long for 5p.

    The "original" Milky Way's.
Sherbert Pips, Lemon Drops, that were always covered in pocket fluff.
    Marathon bars, NOT bloody Snickers!
    Space Ships full of sherbert.

    Bazooka Joe chewing gums.
    Pink Panther bars...sickly pink chocolate.
    Dairy Maid choccy covered toffess.
Aztec bars, like a Mars and Milky Way mixed togther.

Little cakes with Lemon Curd inside, covered in my Grans home-made custard...MMMM...
Sherbert Dabs, with a licourice "straw".
Real licourice roots. Tastes like rotten wood !
Pontefract Cakes...threw one across the room to an old girlfriend messing about, and it went straight down her throat almost choking her...

    Tutti Frutti
    Cola Cubes
    Rancheros
    Angel Delight

For some reason, I remember my grandma's kitchen vividly. She was always baking rock buns and saffron buns, even though they never appealed to me as a child. I can remember all the crockery in her kitchen, the wallpaper, the furniture, and the delicious smell of her kitchen, even though it was back in the 1970s.

Sweets in Oz are called Lollies (just so you know)

    Ones that come to mind:

    Minties (chewey mint sweets)
White Knight bar (chewey mint in chocolate)
    Cobbers (hard caramel in chocolate)
    Wagon Wheels
Violet Crumble (sort of like a crunchie)
    Musk Sticks
    Bullets (licorice pellets in chocolate)

Flasheart; Well, it was late at night and I was just about to take her home.

We were both worried, as she said she could feel it.

By the time we got to her house she seemed to a bit better and wouldn't got to A+E.

Few days later, she had MORE than a Pontefract Cake to choke on...lol !

Pink Panther bars always used to give me a headache for some reason.

Fruit Salad chews would always melt in your pocket and ittook ages to get the wrapper off.

Cobber is a great name for a sweet. Why didnt we have them here.

And grans kitchens are full of magic.

    +1 for liquorice bullets.

They did bring Aztecs back, for a while.
    Huge advertising, TV adverts etc.

    Apparently they didn't sell well.

Mate told me he can get Bazooka Joes, but I checked their site, and he's been
all "Yoofed Up", Wicked, like, know wot I mean?!
I'd rather remember Joe as he was...
With the originals you could collect the inside wrapper thingys, and send away for toys.

Same with Action Man: Collect the stars on the boxes, and gat so many for a free Action Man, hence I had 3 from the HQ in Leicester.

Anyone remember the brief craze for hedgehog flavoured crisps? Late 80s it was.

Also Brannigans crisps - still around but not very easy to find.

I got a box of 40 Texan bars from Costco a couple of christmasses back, limited re-issue of them.

I savoured them for a year as my special treat.

Loved United bars - Blue over Red

Trio biscuits. I remember them more for the advert than the choccy comestible tho.

    Pear Drops made me gag

    Cola Cubes were ghastly

but I managed to work my way through the rest of the shop in small but determined steps :D

Apparently they're talking about getting rid of Curlywurlys! The yank company that took over Cadburys stated that some of the least popular would be going - how the hell can a curlywurly be the least popular? They're amazing.

Alpine fizzy drinks delivered on a lorry because we couldn't afford coke & the like. Slush puppies. Ice poles. Sweets would be cola cubes.

I can remember my first fisherman friend from a mate as a joke.

Findus crispy pancakes and chips from the chip pan.

First home made curry in 1979, I liked it because it had sultanas in it. I was 8.

    Wham bars.
    Highland toffee bars.
Bottles of ginger, loved red Kola. Then get 2p for taking the bottle back.
10p mixups from the ice cream van.

    Scottish up bringing. :D
