Well Folks,
I must be the most p.ss.d off bloke in the world orderd new bike on Sat " wolf ridge ", delivery due to day took day off work holiday it turned up at 6.20pm in a box smashed in with handle bar sticking through and damaged, upside down and packaging ripped open!,
You can bet how angry I am. So no bike and day short in holiday and now the hassle of sorting replacement.

Hope you took photos of the damage. It eases the dispute much better.

I would have refused to accept the box as soon as I saw the damage to be honest. Don't sign for anything until a visual inspection has taken place. I know it's after the event, but it might help some other person.

I send loads of parcels out every day (binoculars). If something looks damaged NEVER sign for it. The small print says you've not only signed for it but checked the goods are in perfect condition!

Whenever we claim for damaged good against the courier the first thing they always say is that the customer signed saying they were OK. We're lucky if we get 50% of the value.

Wiggle bike boxes clearly state that they should not be accepted if damaged
No idea who provided your bike, but did their packaging have any similar instructions printed upon it?

Who said he signed for it? You're all assuming he did, when he might have refused to and is awaiting a replacement as we speak...

    Dirty, but I like it
Why would I care about 150g of bike weight, I just ate 400g of cookies while reading this?

What's more intriguing is that Marin won't allow mail order from anyone. So you shouldnt have even been sent the bike by post from any supplier. They strictly stipulate that no Marin bike can be sent out. Can be purchased instore only.

And sorry to hear the news!! Bummer!

How disappointing, I thought I was going to read all that and find out that you went out for a ride and came off a track next to reservoir and have wrecked/lost your bike. Rung supplier? paid Visa blah blah blah.

When we sent items via TNT they refused to payout because customer had signed for them, we also had daily deliveries via TNT so I was forced to make the driver wait ages while I opened and checked every package. This went on for some time.

Now a days you are signing a pda and I doubt the person who signs can be said to have accepted the item in perfect condition.

    Folks,

Sorry so late with reply but needed to calm down and do Dad duties.

Contacted Bike shop first thing this morning and explained what had happend and e-mailed photos. Bike shop were not impressed with the delivery company and told me this is the second issue this week???? of the same problem.
The bike shop then contacted me later to say they had spoken too the delivery company and the bike would be collected today and once back at the shop they would send me a new one. I explained that the bike was needed for a trip to wales at the weekend, they said it would be a push but as the bike would be back with them on Thursday morning the new one would be despatched ASAP so Friday should be ok.

Great I thought! still have for weekend. So I rushed from work early to re-pack bike for collection. Had to miss kids swimming lessons so someone would be at house and guess what?, No collection!!!!!!!!!!.
Phoned bike shop no call back. So now no collection today means no bike for Wales!!.
Sorry to go on folks but mood not good at min.
So in morning order "canceled" and bike orderd from an other bike shop that can delivery the goods in new condition and on time. I have wasted a days holiday, hours on phone and missed kids swimming.

Was the bike damaged? I can't quite make out, but it sounds like just damaged packaging from the first post.

Where are you riding on the weekend? if you're nearby (I'm in North Wales, near Caernarfon) I could meet up, I'll take my old bike, you can borrow the new one for the day
(I'm pretty unfit right now though, so you'd have to wait up!)

Thanks for the offer very nice of you.
Did not take bike out of what was left of packaging but just looking at bar end and lever they are damaged. Not taking risk with anything else. When you spend that much on a bike you want it pristine at least when you get it. It may not stay that way for long, lol

Well the offer's there, it's a rather tasty little wolf ridge, with a fox 36 up front, and upgraded chainset.
I will NOT be getting up too early on Saturday though, I've been at work till midnight every night this week, probably going to stay in my pit till about 11am to recover .

Its up to the supplier to ensure the courier service is up to scratch . if its not then they are to blame. sounds like a monkey company that i wouldnt want to deal with.
they should be delivering the bike by hand in time for your trip if you ask me

Another worrying thing is, as someone pointed out, marin just don't do mail order, part of their dealership agreement states that their dealers must be a bricks and mortar shop, where customers can try out various sizes, and be advised by the shop staff.
It's all a bit hippy-ish I guess, but anywhere offering mail order on Marins can't be a proper dealer, or maybe they're selling "grey imports" of some sort.

I know Marin have that bricks-and-mortar clause but I didn't think they ban mail order entirely, just that they won't supply to mail-order only companies? No shortage of companies selling Marin by mail

The courier company wasnt UK Mail by any chance was it? I ask cause recently i ordered a new weight bench from a Pure Fitness & Sports and they used these cowboys to deliver it, it should have been on an overnight next day delivery but didnt turn up until 4 days lata then when the van arrived the driver informed me that someone had forgot to put it in the van and he couldnt deliver it but he would make sure it was the next day.

As i half expected nothing arrived and it was just over a week in total before my bench arrived and when it did the box was shredded at both ends completely and had parts hanging out of it then when i came to put it together predictably there were all manner of nuts and bolts missing from the pack.

To be fair Pure Fitness were massively helpful and said they would send me out a replacement pack bolts and fittings for free for next day delivery and this time they arrived via a different courier.

UK Mail are cowboys and should be avoided at all costs, the 2 blokes that did eventually deliver my bench looked rougher than rough and honestly dint smell very clean and hygenic either.

I thinkthey do, but I may be wrong. I've certainly not seen many places selling them online, unless they're old stock or something. I guess the wolf ridge would be old stock, they don't make them anymore do they? I thougth they've renamed them all "Attack Trail" now.

nice bit of stereotyping going on! UK Mail are one of the largest courier companies going.

This is on JEjejames site "Due to the supplier wishing to prevent internet sales and mail order, this item can only be collected in store."
