Watching the Tour?

Now I guess this is a bit late! But we saw the Tour at Morzine where we stayed in an awesome chalet. Caught a real close up picture of Lance going up the Avoriaz climb.

Im planning on arriving at the tour de france for the 2 Galiber stages, Alpe D'Huez, and the time trial in grenoble.

Im looking at the routes and the best way to see the finishes at Galibier and d'huez. what times do they close the roads before the race? As I'm looking at moving from Galibier to Huez on either thursday night /friday morning and I'm worried they'll send me the long way round which if you look on google maps could be a lot longer.

Anybody got any tips?

I was in Morzine on the climb to Avoraiz, 5km to go and got some decent pictures. I stayed for the following rest day and watched the sign in a roll out of the next stage, stafe 9. Was one hell of an experience. Here are just a few:

hi there! Im planning on going to the Galibier and Alpe D,Huez stage this week. Im camping in Le Grave down the road. Does anyone know how easy it is to get to the top for a good position. I have a car and am aware it will be rammed. Can i get up on the day? I want to be around the 2km marker for both stages.

Saw the Alpe d'huez stage this year and had a great time. Was around the 10.3km mark. Spent a lot of time practising with the video on my new camera but did too much and when the riders started coming past the batteries died pretty quickly. Spent some time in Andorra earlier on where team katusha were training for the Vuelta.

Well, I've given up on trying to post them in the forum as I don't seem to be able to work out how to do it, but here are a few photo's I took on Alpe D'Huez at this year's tour.

They're nothing special but I got Contador leading the way past us (we got to the 10km from home mark, not too bad with g/f's in tow), got the chase group with Andy Schleck and Cadel Evans at the front, and also the Yellow and Polka Dot Jerseys. You can just about make Cav out in Green in the shot of the Bus. Also a shot of Bourg D'Oissans from the Alpe, prior to the madness that was trying to leave that night!

They capture the atmosphere a little anyway!

Got a few snaps at the Montpellier stage finish but due to the crowds putting me several rows back and the speed of the peloton being too great for my photography skills, not really got anything worth posting from there!

Watching it on TV right now and seeing them struggling up a cat 1 climb. I know that I would have been off and walking some time ago, but it is still good to see even the professionals struggling up a hill and getting ragged.
