    Cipo dressed as a roman?

I would be thinking if Cipo is mentioned, it would be his 4 consectutive stage wins, not sure which year though.

Claudio Chiappucci to Sestriere in '92?
Laurent Jalabert to Mende in '95?

And didn't Jacky Durand win a stage with some stupidly long lone break?

steve_pushbiker and greasedscotsman share the plaudits for the Cipo one, as it was afte having won the four stages that he dressed as a Roman

Two of these are classic stages from the 50s/60s, the other one is the most difficult and quite random.

In that case, you must have missed pdstsp picking the Puy de Dome on the first page. I can't image they'd do the 50/60s without that.

    Or Liege :D

How about for the random one, Delgado's attack on the Luz Ardiden stage of the '88 race, they always seem to show that one on these highlights shows, although he didn't win the stage, think Cubino did...

I'll have a few guesses at the 'quite random' one:

Tom Steels throwing his bidon in a bunch sprint
Guerini crashing into a fan taking a photo
Joel Pelier wins the stage to Futuroscope in 1989 (my favourite stage win)
    Thierry Marie's epic breakaway win
The stage 1 breakaway in 1990
    Bernard Hinault punching someone.

redvee has managed to find the random one - Ocana crashing out

    Coppi on Alp D'Huez 1952
Anquetil 1957 blowing up on the Soulor

Random one, Andre Darrigde riding into the secretary of the Parc du Prince 1958
or Brian Robinson first Brit stage win 1958

After consideration, the final one goes to Cleat Eastwood. It was Charly Gaul winning the Tour, not just the KOM but I'm not that picky.

    Congrats to all

Wim van Est crashing into a ravine while wearing yellow? Phil and Paul tell that story every year!

I only won by posting the most guesses. My strike rate was pretty poor.

I could have posted all the missing moments after looking at the DVD I made from the ITV2 proggy I recorded last year.

So no Merckx ride to Mourenx and no Pantani Deux Alpes or Alpe d'Huez (I know)

    Ho hum.

On a more random note why not Bartali handing Coppi a water bottle (or by some accounts the other way round) from that photo? Surely an iconic tour moment. It even lead to the re-opening of their legendery feud.

It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.

Being a TV show, it probably focused on events they had clips for (preferably one's they owned)
