great to see Longo win at that age, what a woman. You couldn't imagine Hinault still winning at Elite level. Men pack a hard punch but in the long run they're slow, women have more stamina

Could it be because he's such a nice guy that he lets others have their chance because he wouldn't be wearing the swiss national champ "jersey" anyway?

Sounded like a great race. Visconti attacked solo towards the end and held out for the win.

    Germany Elite TT
    Martin
    Gretsch
    Voigt
    Grabsch

    Spain Elite TT
    Luis Leon Sanchez

Two quality riders there. A strong field for Germany.

British Road race is tomorrow I think and Belgian on Wednesday.

Three additions to the sig so far in the Nationals.

I wonder why the Italian race was today, normally they ride the national champs on a Sunday.

@FF - Belgian championship is tomorrow, in Leuven, east of Brussels.

Good race it was too. 2 hours on Rai Sport.
Nice to see first Sella, then Ricco making life hard for all the big boys.
When Visconti made a little "push" on Ricco, at the top of the tough (15% max) climb on the penultimate lap, the writing was on the wall.

The last 20kms ridden in splendid isolation.

The only thing wrong with the Giro. No Visconti and Rujano....

I'm sure Chavanel will be getting a scathing, "lightweight" e-mail, as we type.

couldnt find a live stream of the british championship race so watched hagen das in norway but how good was hussovds attacking ride? I thought that guy could only sprint to the line and moan about Cav, but hell he smoked EBH, then bridged the gap, then smoked those riders and bridged the gap to the race leader and smoked him to the line with ease. the sceptics will be calling him a cheat one day if he rides like that alot

He was excellent in Paris Roubaix '09 untill he tried to superman his bike round a corner, and has won Het Volk, which is again, a one dayer for the strongest. Didn't he also finish 2nd in Roubaix this year?

Nothing unusual about his Norwegian Champ win.

    Pooley won the women's title.

The UK race sounded pretty good and a tough course. Nice to hear Gilbert made the selection and was aggressive - a shame he didn't take the jersey.

I have been surprised that he hasn't taken a win before now and been a little disappointed with his showing but pleased he now has a good win and will be a good rider to show off the colours nicely in the Tour.

The Belgian win from Devolder was a great ride.
A quality breakway group including Gilbert, Nuyens, Leukemans, Van Avermaet were surprised by the speed & endurance from Devolder.
He made a really gradual breakaway & did a Cancellara.

Very impressive performance from Devolder (finally). A different man from the early season. Looks a lot fitter & leaner.
Seems likely now he will replace the injured Boonen in the TdF even though it wasn't planned that way. Obviously very different riders - best chance for Devolder is a breakaway but that's so hard to manage in the Tour.

Hard work for Patrick Lefevre. He was pi$$ed off with both Devolder & Weylandt from the classics season & ready to drop both but with Weylandt winning a stage in the Giro & now Devolder wearing the Belgian drie-kleur they're both potential QS riders again in 2011.
