A question for nutrition / long run advice....

Quick question here but I was thinking about energy over long runs the other day. I have been stepping up one ride a week doing 100 miles on a Friday. I was thinking about the whole double carb thing but can recall reading that the liver only stores enough glycogen for 2 hours of exercise. Therefore is double carbing pointless/moot or does the body store it elelsewhere?

I've no issues with my fuel on a long run but was interested as to what some of the bike radar folk think?

Thanks.

Most of the nutrition related science that I've read and followed lately leads me to believe that double carbing is pointless and is more likely to cause weight gain than performance benefit. Essentially start a ride with topped up glycogen levels then replenish with quality calories at the maximum rate your body can process them (300 or so an hour?) and that's as much as you need to do. Anything else is only likely to be beneficial as a placebo.
    Take care,

    Steve.
