New club in Cumbria

  • Me and my Mate joined the Honister92 lads for a spin today, and to be honest had a cracking day the pace was sensible and when anyone needed a number 1 stop or got dropped everyone eased up to wait. Not a single up your own ars* rider, everyone was down to earth and enjoyed a bit off banter.
They do indeed do long rides I think today was 5hrs30min-70 miles (the wife wern't happy when I got home :? ) and aparently last weekend was a bit off a killer ride but how many enthuiast road club don't? It's a real shame the two clubs can't see eye to eye as I think Honister geninely tried to do a two tier road rides in the past. Catering for the lower mileage sunday rides but today everyone was up for the greater distance.
I can understand the intrepidation off the prospect off 70mile road ride especially in Cumbria as even a flat ride ain't easy in Cumbria and Cumbria42 does sound like a good idea for lads and young and old alike to to see if they enjoy the sport or indeed just want a couple off hours in the saddle compared to 5/6 posss more?
From my experience of road clubs locally and from talking to local lads The Lakes Road can come across as intimidating so this isn't just a Honister92 thing?

Sorry mate i'm not sure how to take this i've been on your forum and seen what i'm and my club is being called. a two tier system would have been good i would have loved to take out new rider's and folk who cant get in the saddle for hrs, alot of people do have busy family life, and just cant manage to get away for long periods, i struggle most week ends with 3 young kids in the house. the club was aimed at people just like this along with beginners, its a shame really we have one thing in common and it causes trouble, all for just trying to get people to enjoy what we enjoy. if this is genuine then thanks for the comment.

Brian - This is my last comment on the matter, please can I ask you to give it up now and stop altering my posts to make them look childish, it really is now becoming silly, we dont want to let this get out of hand, surely our aim is to encourage people to take up cycling not to put them off by reading childish posts like the recent ones.

Pinarello dude - thanks for the positive comments and hope to see you out again whenever you get time, glad you enjoyed the ride out today. Cheers
