Training Plan For Mountain Ride!

I am hoping to do a ride next summer that involves 200+km including the Gavia, Stelvio (twice) and Mortirolo (for anyone interested why see here http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12707372 ).

The only problem is I am 38 years old, overweight and only just started cycling regularly again after a long break. Can anyone give me some tips on a structured way to improve over the next 13 months to get in shape for this challenge?

My rough plan is to spend the rest of this summer just "getting out and riding" and building my rides up to around 80 miles at least once a week. From the winter I'll be getting out on club runs and towards the end of the winter I will be aiming to ride to and from the meeting point which will make the rides around 100 to 120 miles. I will also, hopefully, be doing a session or two a week at the velodrome for intensity work. By the spring I hope to start upping the intensity of my workouts and probably racing a bit. The main issue is coming up with a structure to flesh this out. I would love a power meter and coach but can't afford them so will be training on HR only. My training time is generally limited to 1 or 2 longer rides at the weekend, a commute once or twice a week of 18.5 miles each way (through the summer months only) and I can add a two hour session at the velodrome each week and probably an evening session plus time trial each week in the summer months. Anything else would be turbo sessions which I find hard to motivate for normally but with the aim of the ride I should be able to overcome this!

My main worry is obviously lugging my weight up the hill although I hope to lose a stone or two and dealing with the altitude. I won't come close to seeing a hill like those passes before I go out there and the same with the altitude.

Any suggestions for training towards this aim will be gratefully received!
